ASME SECTION VIII D1 2009, UG-136(d)(4) states " Necessary corrections for differentials in popping pressure between steam and air shall be established by the Manufacturer and applied to the popping point on air."
Is it mandatory to make the CDTP corrections while testing the Steam...
Dear Avalveman, While calculating the CDTP, we are referring the operating temperature. If the operating temperature is more than 120 Degree F, then we need to multiply temperature correction factor with set pressure, then only we will get the CDTP. Except Crosby design pzvs, we are referring...

I need your advice pls
As per API RP 520,(page 48) the temperature correction factor (multiplier) is typically required when the relieving temperature exceeds 250°F. However in Dresser PSVs(Consolidated PSVs)they are referring the operating temperature not relieving temperature. In...
Hi, Dresser is doing the online testing from valve size 1" onwards. While conducting the online test, you can verify only set pressure, No leak test or back pressure test.
Most of the companies prefer to test steam service valves, not process psvs.

We would like to test & calibrate our new psvs in RV shop, which is more than 180KM far from our plant. As per code/API, is it acceptable? After calibration, how many kilometer transportation is acceptable(by road)?
Can we have your advice pls
Thanks

Find attached photograph for the PSV outlet mismatch. Your comments pls.
If the outlet is not matched with outlet piping, what are the issues we may face in future. Also if the inlet flange is not matched what are the issues we may face in future.
Your valuable comments are really...
Dear avalveman
Thanks for your feedback. "V" stamped ASME Section 1 Safety Vales are installed in our boiler separately.(One Drum having 2 SVs with different set point 45 & 49 KGc/cm2g - 1st floor). 3rd PSVs is located in the ground floor with 49Kg/cm2g set pressure. During in-place test(on line...

We have 3 PSVs in our Boiler and the boiler operating pressure is 40Kg/cm2g. Can you please inform us, at what pressure we need to set each safety valve. As per code how much gap we need to keep on each psv?
Presently it is
1st PSV - 45Kg/cm2g,
2nd PSV - 49Kg/cm2g
3rd PSV - 49Kg/cm2g...

Yes, we not plugging the bellows design pzvs bonnet vent. Field operators are asking us, if we plug the bellows design pzvs vent, what will happen?. I would like to have any other answers from the experts other than I mentioned in the question. I received beautiful &...
Dear All
As per psv procedure, we must keep the bellows design psv's bonnet vent keep open or piped to a safe location. If we plug the bellows psv bonnet vent, what will happen? How it affects the psv performance?
1. As per code, we should not plug the bellows design psv's bonnet vent, it is...

If we have section 1 Boiler PSVs,even if we calibrate the PSV in the shop, we need to conduct in place test(on line popping test) at site. What is the reason behind this requirement.
Why a section 1 Boiler PSV needs to test at shop & then test at site?
Awaiting your feedback
Thanks

i need your advice for the steam service safety valve tolerance. If the PZV design is section 8 and the service is steam we need to follow Table 2 for the set pressure tolerance or Table 1.
