    Loading of Shouldered Machinery Eyebolts

I spoke with a lifting eye manufacturer on this topic. They strongly discouraging the practice, but suggested that the de-rated working load at 90° could be used for moving beyond 90° as shown in 'Figure A' of the original post's attachment. The manufacturer nor I do not want to encourage the...

    Loading of Shouldered Machinery Eyebolts

First, thank you for your responses thus far. desertfox: I had actually found that exact same OSHC document; a very user friendly document! precast78: I'd like to move to hoist rings, but they are incredibly expensive relatively speaking which will be a tough sell. I'm sure they're a heck of a...

    Loading of Shouldered Machinery Eyebolts

Does the stress exerted on a shouldered machinery eyebolt increase or decrease when loaded beyond 90° relative to the shank? In the attachment, figure 'A' is the scenario I'm concerned about. Figure 'B' is something I've seen addressed in vendor literature (e.g. Crosby recommends a working load...

Surface Texture / Lay Direction on Clyndrical Surfaces

Thank you for your response. It seems obvious, but I wanted a sanity check just in case. Other opinions are still welcome, of course, as I'm happy to avoid confirmation bias whenever possible. ;)

Surface Texture / Lay Direction on Clyndrical Surfaces

Does it may any sense to request a circular lay on a cylindrical feature produced using a common lathe operation? The lay looks perpendicular to the view plane when looking at a section. And conversely, the lay looks parallel when looking down along the axis of the feature. Am I mistaken? Or...

Metric Equivalent to SAE J58 (IFI-115)

Thank you both for your input. Finding an off the shelf item was indeed the goal as we don't deal in massive quantities, and our customers often ask for odd materials to boot (HC276, Monel, etc). I think I'll push for normal socket head bolts if they'll stand up to the torque.

Metric Equivalent to SAE J58 (IFI-115)

I'm searching for a DIN (or ISO, CEN) standard for 12-point flange bolts that will fit into a standard counter-bore hole for socket head capscrews ala SAE J58 (IFI-115). The only hits I've come across using Google, are of the wide flange variety. I know these are sold, but I can't find a metric...
