Whilst integrating Matlab and Ansys, I have found that whilst running Ansys in batch mode I often receive A Fortran error message saying:
severe(38): failed to write to ... \scratch which is a file that Ansys creates whilst running in batch mode.

I had a similar problem to this one recently and found that by glueing the areas together after this line
AADD,2,6,3,7
the areas will then connect together and the magnetic flux lines will flow through out the whole design.
