Thank you so much for the reply Mr. Christine !!
We have got a heat exchanger with more than 30 % variation in no of tubes in two passes. Inlet/ outlet sizes are different and there is one impingement plate installed for the shell inlet. 5-10% variation in tubes seems reasonable, but will 30%...
Hello everyone,
We have one LPG column installed in our unit for recovering LPG from natural gas by thermoexpansion process. There are 3 more columns namely LEF, propane and naphtha. Recently we countered leakage from reboiler tube of one column. For attending the leak we required...
We have installed a new compressor for nitrogen service which is designed and built as per standard API 618. The nitrogen which is being compressed is highly dry and dew point is around -100 deg C whixh makes it bone dry gas. Now, supplier is putting up a restriction not to use the highly dried...
We have single mechanical seals with API seal plan 11 installed with the OH1 pumps in pentane and naptha service. We are planning to replace these seals with dual mechanical seals so that HC does not leak in the atmosphere immediately in event of seal failure.
Is there any guidelines or...
I am looking for guidlines on position of constant level oiler and sight glass/ level indicators on bearing housings.
It is recommended by some experts that oil cup should be installed on the side of the bearing housing facing the shaft rotation at the bottom because this will eliminate the...
Littleinch sir,
Thank you for explaining how power can go down when flow go up.
Tank level is more than 5 meters above suction line and suction line is hardly 5 meters long. So NPSH doesn't seem to be problem.
Motor KW rating is written on motor name plate. Its 75 KW only.
Also impeller MOC is...
Thank you everyone,
Most of the things that you have suggested have already been checked. Like
* Direction of rotation
* Alignment and freeness of the pump
* Motor is of adequate rating. Voltage also checked.
* There seems no mechanical rubbing
* Suction strainer also checked.
* Electrical team...
We have one newly installed pump. Its a between bearings, axially split casing, single stage centrifugal pump. Suction is from a flooded tank. Pump is tripping at overload even at a flow lesser than 50% of the rated discharge. Saw its power curve. Input power vs flow curve slopes downwards. Is...
Thanks O lot everyone,
I will collect required details like flow/velocity, density and vapor pressure of amine soon and let you know. Vibrations readings on De and nde side do not exceed 3 mm/S which I think is quite in limit.
And it's me only who is suspecting cavitation to occur, other people...
Hi everyone,
We have a pumping system to circulate amine in closed loop consisting of columns, filters etc and back to the storage tank.
Now this pump is a axially split casing type 4 stage pump making the fluid reach 60 kg/cm2 at pump discharge. Tank is atmospheric pressurized tank.and level in...
Thanks Johny,
Actually somebody was telling me that pressure in the balance leak off line must be 110% of the suction pressure, that's why I thought if there exists any thumb rule on relationship between suction pressure and BLO line pressure.
Thanks.
Hi all,
We have a no of installation of barrel type centrifugal pumps I.e. BB5 of different make. All of them have balancing piston type arrangement for balancing of axial thrust. Now when the clearance between balancing piston and throttle bush increases, we get a increase in balance leak off...
hi all,
We have a set of three parallel centrifugal (between bearing) pumps for transfer of diesel. One of these three pumps has different head than rest two pumps for same flow rate. Although pumps run, most of the time, one at a time but sometimes two pumps are required to operate in parallel...
thanks zdas.
1st stage discharge pr. is on higher side instead. outlet temp of inter cooler is also within limits so fouling in inter cooler can not be thought of.
At least one thing is clear that if the suction pr of a reciprocating compressor is low, discharge temp will be high.
right??
This is a centrifugal pump which this subject oil cup is attached to.
what can be possible causes of a constant level oiler getting empty out frequently.
1)ingress of air in oil cup due to crack in oil cup.
2) ingress of air through the joint where oil cup is fixed to bearing housing
3)leakage...
Hi all
we have a khosla make air compressor installed in our unit. Its a two stage double acting reciprocating compressor. Discharge of 1 st stage is passed through a water cooled inter cooler and outlet is fed to second stage.
Generally we encounter with 2nd stage high temp problem while 1st...
