Hi All,
I am trying to determine the force required of a cylinder to keep a plate pushed down, and to pull it up when needed. The cylinder is pinned at both ends. The plate is resting on a beam at one end, and is pinned at the other end to be able to pivot. The loads acting on the plate include...
itsmoked: this is a motor that isn't installed yet but we are looking to calculate how much energy it will use. The motor will power a vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner will have 4 different intakes which may or may not be used at the same time. It will not be on a VFD.

Hi All,
I am not an electrical expert but am trying to calculate the energy consumption per day of a 3 phase motor. My motor is 600V, 30A. I know that the formula for calculating the power is:
kw=(V*A*PF*1.73)/1000
My question is: For a 3 phase motor, do I use the full 600V in my calculation...
Hi All,
Thank you for all of your replies! I actually found a method as recommended in the NFPA 291 guideline. They recommend opening the line and using a pitot tube to gauge the pressure, and calculate the flow by using the formula:
Q=29.84*c*d^2*sqrtP
where:Q-flow
c=coefficient of discharge...
Thanks Jeff. Do you have any recommendations on what further information I should gather? My 2'' line is a short branch that is coming off of a main line which is also 2''.
Hi All,
I am trying to determine the flow rate through a 2'' pipe based on a pressure reading taken on that branch. The pressure reading was 40psi. The piping up to that point is very complex and there is no way to know for certain how long it is.
Is there any way to calculate the flow rate...
Hi everyone,
I have been trying to measure the amp draw on my car battery when the vehicle is off. When I unhook the negative lead and measure the amp draw from this, I initially get a reading of 1.9amps with my multimeter. However, after about 10-15 seconds this amp draw quickly drops to...
Hello,
I am trying to determine the meaning behind the suffixes for two bearings. Their part numbers are as follows:
SAFD22526.407.TA.BEO
SAFD22526.407.TA.OEC
I have been unable to find any resource to identify what the BEO and OEC suffixes stand for. Does anyone have any ideas?
Regards,
Renee
Hello,
The facility that I work at has an electric fire pump/jockey pump combination to provide water to our fire lines. The max discharge pressure of the fire pump is 145psi, however the lines downstream of the pump are reading at 175psi (when the pump is at rest). I was wondering if any of...
Hello,
I have been working on teh design of a holding tank in our mill and I am trying to find whether overflow pipes are required by any code. From what I could tell, API 650 does not specify that overflow pipes are needed, yet the code does mention them alot. Any tips on this would be great...
