    Read files .list with matlab

Yes but it doesn't works well. Besides I have to eliminate some sentences of the file while matlab read it because it has some sentences with '*' and another lines that i don't need to read. I need a code that automatically remove the things I don't want and read me the file properly. Anyway if...

Save the results with a extension appropiate for matlab

Hi everyone, I need very urgent a way to import with matlab the results that ansys take out in files with .lis extension. I use the PRNSOL command to get the nodal solution and i save it to a .lis file . After of that i need to read them into Matlab, Any help? Thanks for advance.

    Read files .list with matlab

Hi everyone, I would liko to know how i can read the files with extension .list from ansys adpl program in order to import to matlab and be able to process the results. I need a code of matlab to can do this. It's a bit urgent and i aprecciate a lot the help. Thanks!.

Simulation of two semiinfinite bodies in contact

Hi everyone, I have a big doubt in how to model the contact between two semi-infinite solids with ansys. It is supposed that at the beginning of the transitory state I have to see a "s" shape in the temperature against position plot due to the different temperatures of both bodies. The question...

    Making videos with ansys

Hello, I have a question: How can i do a video with ANTIME command in wich the full video length is 1000000 seconds and i want to reproduce the video with different frames. For example for the slice of the video than long 40000 seconds to reproduce at 50 frames per second but the second part...

    Semi-infinite model

Thanks for the response, but it doesn't works well, The model consists in determine the temperature of the contact between the skin and the wood. I have thought to do it as i do normally my thermal 2D problems (with PLANE55). I have two possible responses in how to do it: 1) One of them is to...

How to apply heat flux in a transient analysis

Hello I have a question in the way of how i have to apply heat flux to the middle of the junction of two bars (copper and steel) only during a short period of time. I just want to introduce this heat flux for one minute which is the time that the video last. The video shows how several balls of...

    Semi-infinite model

Hello everyone, I have some troubles trying to model a situation where a hand of a man touches a piece of wood of large dimension (it is considerate as infinite) and the same case touching a steel piece. I have seen that there is an element type appropiate with this kind of problem which is...

    COMPARING THERMAL CONDUCTIVITIES

No, it's not a internal heat generation. I just want to fix a temp of 50ºc at the left edge of the bar. Furthermore the bar is all insulated, so it doesn't exist film coefficient with the air. The right side is a reservoir of heat ( a big area with a very high conductivity compared with the...

    COMPARING THERMAL CONDUCTIVITIES

Hello everyone, I'm resolving a model in which i want to compare the conductivities of two bars of different materiales ( wood and metal). Both bars are insulated at the top and bottom sides. I have a heat source on the left side of both bars fixed at a temp of 50ºC and at the right side i have...

    PINBALL REGION ON CONTA 172

Thank you very much. It's been a great help. My actual model hasn't got thickness. I was just comparing the solution with another model with thickness and a predefined area. Anyway the doubts has been resolved Besides, it is true what you said that changing the gap hasn't got any effect.

    PINBALL REGION ON CONTA 172

Hello people, I just want that anyone could answer a query that I have with contact elements. I'm modelling a thermal grease sticked to another two metals (silicon and copper) with conta 172 an targe 169 elements The thickness of the grease is 0.02 mm but I want to introduce this grease with...

    ERROR: CONTA + TARGE ELEMENTS

Got it! Thanks! There is a message that doesnt let me calculate the model when I change the place where the convection is applied (so it's an error of the model) and says that: "The value of temp at node 1040 is 2.405769017E+14 is greater than the current limit of 1000000. This generally...

    ERROR: CONTA + TARGE ELEMENTS

Hello everyone!, My main concerned is about an error that ansys give me when i try to put the boundary conditions of a thermal analysis problem. I'm tryin to simulate a die attached to a copper area by means of a thick layer of thermal grease I have used conta 172 +targe169 because it's a 2d...

    contact element die+grease+copper

I have resolved the problem!!!!!!!!! The key was in the keyopt (2) of the conta172. I had to change Penalty Stiffness factor to "MPC Contact". Doing this the distribution of temperatures is correct!!!!. Thanks for the help an sorry about my insistence.

    contact element die+grease+copper

Definitely I think the problem is not about the mesh but about the definition of the contact. I wrote the "CNCHECK" command in ansys and the following appeared. I don't know if the contact is well defined. Could you help me? *** NOTE *** CP = 3.297 TIME=...

    contact element die+grease+copper

I have already solved the problems commented above. But I still have the problem that the solution that ANSYS gives me doesn't make sense. 1) Using a generation of heat of 20 W which is the power that the die dissipate: I have done manual calculations ( the max temp for my model is 406,856ºC)...

    contact element die+grease+copper

I appreciate a lot your help. In first place i have managed to slice the big areas (the area 1 has been split into 3 smaller areas and the area 2 has been split into 4 smaller areas) and i have used command ASBL to substract the areas (starting with creating lines from keypoints). So far...

    contact element die+grease+copper

Something with the simulation is going wrongly. I have already put temp of 500 deg at the top and with "smartsizing" the temperature drops very quickly from the top to the bottom (500 deg at the top to 68.63 deg at the bottom ) which is something illogical because the temperature cannot do that...

    contact element die+grease+copper

Thank you very much for the help. I have solved the problems described above but I still have several ones. The result of the distribution of temperatures seems to be a bit exaggerated for me. I have compared with another model where instead of using conta172+targe169 I have introduced the...
