Contact issue with paper transport (NX nastran SOL 601 129 )

Hi vandongenp, Have you tried refine the mesh? From the result, I can see the X displacement vary from 4 to 7mm. Does this imply any error in the boundary condition? Should they be roughly the same if the problem is set correctly? Jason

Does Nastran have p/h element feature?

Hi nlygyro, Thanks for your reply. I have read the reference manual as well. However the problem is I am using NX Nastran which is an GUI and the manual is in TUI or command, so I do not know exactly how to implement the p-element in GUI or NX Nastran environment. Could you please me with...

Does Nastran have p/h element feature?

Hi all, I have come across some article saying that hp element bring a lot of advantage in capturing stress concentration area. However I cannot find any tutorial or article teaching how to use these elements. Could anyone give me a clue please? Thank you Jason

    Strain measurement system

Thanks Oaklandishh. Althought P3 is not quite suitable for my need but it is good to know the level of fluctuation I May get from this kind of instrument. Hi rb1957, could you tell me more of the different between static strain and frequency response set up please? Thank you

    Strain measurement system

Thank you for all your reply. Oaklandishh thanks for your suggestion. Could you tell more about what kind of tests your company do?1 micro-strain is what I am looking for, since the result will be used for comparison with FEA result. In term of stability, I do not have any clue for what to aim...

    Strain measurement system

Hi all, I am an CAE engineer and my company wants to purchase a strain measurement system for validation of the simulation result. We are planning to compare static load and natural frequency of a part with FEA result. Since I have no experience in strain measurement system, I am a bit confuse...

How to obtain stress result by combining symmetry and anti symmetry result

Hi all, I have read the user guide about how to use the combination of symmetry and anti symmetry result to simulate load on only half of a structure. Please read article from the link below http://simulatemore.mscsoftware.com/taking-advantage-of-symmetry-in-fea-msc-nastran/ However it only...

How to model a battery box enclosed in a cage with concentrated mass

Hi all, I am modelling battery box enclosed in a cage made with steel bars and steel plates. The battery is sandwiched between two steel plates and the plates are connected with steel bars with pre-tension. I want to solve the problem under static acceleration in 3 directions. I have solved the...

    Optimize in Assembly FEM

I am analyzing a steel space frame structure in NX Nastran. I have built the structure as assembly FEM. However I have found out that the optimization modules do not support AFem. Is there an alternative way to optimize the space frame structure? Thank you

How to model weld T-joint in Nastran

Hi, I am using the NX Nastran to model a spot weld T-joint between two steel sheets. I was trying to use the CWELD function before finding out that the it does not work with free edge. The Glue connection gives a continuous connection between the sheets, so it may underestimate the strength of...

Stiffness of tri and tet elements

I have used Fluent for two years and now I am using NX Nastran for structural simulation. Although the fundamental theory of fluid and structural analysis are different, their methodology are similar, finite element. One thing in common in finite element is data is computed at the integration...

NX Nastran or LS-DYNA for crashworthiness simulation

Dear all, I am using NX Nastran Basic for linear static simulation on vehicle. My company is now looking for a software to do crashworthiness simulation. We now have two options, NX Nastran Non-linear Explicit solver SOL701 and LS-DYNA. LS-DYNA is about 20% more expensive than NX. I have tried...

    Defining and using Superelement

I am working in an automotive company and I am new to NX. I find that the superelement method would be very useful simplified large assembly. However I find it very hard to understand the NX help documetation and I still do not understand the procedure of defining superelement and how to connect...
