I have a question about how to allow components of a sub-assembly to move in a higher-level assembly
my situation is this:
for supply chain reasons, we get a subassembly of parts with links and bearings and sliders and rigid parts from one vendor
and from another vendor we get a second...
Hey Everyone ...
I have an assembly that is a set of linkages and sliders and a shock ----> think suspension set-up.
i have 3 arrangements made: 1) full extension; 2) 30% of shock travel; 3) full compression (65mm)
all these arrangements are driven 100% by a distance constraint in the assembly...
thanks for the clarifications!
i think the best solution for me will be using a part family to turn on/off various feature groups ...
one master file ... and as many as 3 subordinate files.
does this make sense ... and would it be considered a 'best practice' in NX?
thx

Thanks Ben ...
can you explain why it is asking for trouble ... i am an NX rookie ... and am open to all advice
can i make a 'master model' that designs the part (smartly) all the way to the 'assembled' state ... and then use Part Families to create subordinate parts by turning off feature...
Greetings!
I have a question about how best to handle the following workflow:
Step 1: 'raw' part is created by forging
this part will require some inspection dimensions and an inspection drawing for the factory
Step 2: 'machined' part is created from the raw part
the 'raw' part is fixtured and...
thanks everyone ...
Tomas ... yes, ... that was the first thing i tried ... to just change the properties of the part ... and got the same result .. and thought that render sets would help.
attached is a montage of the 3 images i tried to attached before.
thanks everyone ... any help is...
Not sure where to pose this question ... so thought I'd start here.
fyi, i;m running nx 9
I am trying to create some drawings ... and i want to de-emphasize one particular part.
The de-emphasized part is critical to the assembly, but not part of the package created at the particular factory...
