I agree with your points, but I was hoping that given the number of publicly available, up-to-date maps, particularly from VW, there may be a treasure trove of maps available somewhere... perhaps SAE as you say.     Thank you for your suggestion, hemi, but the problem is that I can only view the abstracts. I'd have to buy each paper of interest in the hope that it might contain the data I'm looking for, and that the data is of sufficient quality. If I had free access to all papers I'm sure I could find...
