I got this doubt suddenly. I have shown a two member truss having same E and A and Pin joint end conditions.
Let,
W= work done by external force, which is, Fdy
E1 is the Work done by Member 1, which is, F(1)^2*L/EA
E2 is the work done by Member 2, which is same as E1, F(2)^2*L/EA
(I may...
Double Integration method and Area moment method is used to determine beam deflection assuming that the elastic curve is very flat with the result of ds=dx.
How much deflection can be measured using this process without serious error?
In the picture below (Cantilever beam),
After using double...
I like to share my experience.
I am also very new and I think Experience is the most important thing.
A months before I often find a lot problems applying features like swept or Loft and thought it as Bugs which things are rare to me today!
There are also many problems like I cant do...
Yes I got the point! BC and CD will face very little I guess, so neglected. All is left is a 3 member frame! Load along BD later apply force on DC member, and again increase the Moment on AB by bending DC! Things get rough! I hate to do iteration! I am tired of it! Ill try some days later...
A lot thanks CANPRO [bigsmile]. This will help me a lot! [bigsmile]
Thanks rb1957. But I hardly can understand. Ill be very grateful if you simplify this. I have added a photo... [smile]http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=3f87c596-9c62-424d-820d-bdd993a041c0&file=Untitleddfdfdf.png
Ill do it a little days later I hope. [smile] Just made a little try for a very simple model and Stuck!
Tried to use min potential energy method, but can be done using simple calculation.
Iteration process is probably the only way, which is very time consuming. May be impossible without...
Thanks everyone. [bigsmile]
So I have got two ways.
1) Truss consideration:
i) Consider it as pure truss, 1st order analysis
ii) Consider the moments in joints, recalculate, 2nd order analysis
2) Beam consideration:
i) Consider chords as pure beam, 1st order analysis.
ii) Consider the...
Thanks everyone. [smile]
Unfortunetly I cant buy books right now. So, things get tough for me!
However, DamsInc, will you please Describe a little about it? specially "noding eccentricity", I havnt heard anything about it. [smile]
I guess the Chords will act as pure beams, So there should...
In the picture a space truss beam is shown.
Its not a truss because the Webs are welded, not pinned and the main four exterior members are solid Members. So they can resist bending moment where in pure truss they only can resist Tension and compression.
Its basically a open web complicated...
As far I know, PVC beam is available in market. Only screw joints are possible I guess in this case. But wood is excellent. Very easy to machining and Joining.
Thanks everyone [smile]
For aircraft please name some good (High Specific strength, cost efficient) material for Beams that will undergo both compression and bending.
Its like homebuild aircraft of about 10 ft in length and 50 kg in mass.
Thanks everyone. [smile] Sorry for being offline for days.
I will use it for a homemade aircraft actually.
Your comments are really helpful, I like to switch myself from balsa wood to another material. Ill look for a better one. Suggestion will be greatly appreciated. [bigsmile]
Low, Medium or High density, Which types of balsa wood is most cost effective and Structurally efficient and available in market?
Is it possible to have a balsa wood block of 5ft long and 3x3" cross sectional area in market?
As this wood beam will be subjected to bending, to make it highly...
