Perhaps just too quick since links mostly refers to keenserts (for which we have all the informations needed), while the question was for metric potted inserts. In any case thanks for the answer.
Hi and happy new year,
for a structural test campaign on a "thick" ( > 12 mm ) CFRP panel we are going to compare mechanical behaviour ( pull / push / shear / bending) on different types of inserts (keensert, kobserts and classic potted insert).
"Classic" potted inserts are the ones normally...

Hi all,
I'd like to write an API script in order to automate the generation of renderings on a part/assembly of solidworks. The flow should be someting like this:
- open file
- generate all the view necessary
- run the script
The script should take all the views previously generated in the...
You have to create groups with the portions of the model (nodes, elements etc) needed, and in the "Analysis Set Manager", in the tab "NASTRAN Bulk Data Options" under "Portion of Model to Write" chose the group consequently.
Hi all,
which is the right way to create a filet (or a chamfer) on the blue highlighted edge only (with no propagation on the near edges)? The normal fillet command has the "tangent propagation" function on, but if I remove it the program return me an error.
I attach the images.
Thanks in...
1) You have to plot the result and check the results from the shape of the deformation
2) I suppose your beam, in the model, is made by 20 elements. Right?
The reason is due to the shape of beam, and the model used by the solutor (Tymoshenko) that is different from what the theory use...
Hi all,
is there a way, using FEMAP with NX NAstran solver, to write in the .dat file the SOL tag in number rather than in characters? SOL 103 instead of SOL SEMODES etc.
Thanks
crostolo
Hi cmcbain,
create a group with all the elements and a group without the beam elements and in the NASTRAN Bulk Data Options (when you set up the analysis) pick the right group in the menu "Portion of Model to Write"
Hi acga,
nodes of solid elements have "only" 3 d.o.f. rather nodes of shell elements have 5. You should connect the RBE2 with at least 2 solid elements, in order to transfer the bending moments of the plate elements.
Under the "Meshing" tab under the Model tree, edit the geometry with the operation "Washer". You can choose the dimension of the radius.
Useful is also the command "Pad" that create a square sorrounding the hole.
Hi all,
I'm looking for some information about Cross Spectral Density function in order to perform FEM analysis (NASTRAN) with two exictations input on the models. In many case I have to perform random vibration analysis on models (electronic boards for example) linked to the support structure...
You have to set up a contact condiction between the faces and the 3D core.
Why do you use 3D elements for the core? It would be easier and faster to model the whole sandwich panel with laminate-composite elements (all 2D)
Hi Wnuczko,
yes you can but keep in mind that the nodes of plate elements doesn't have the DOF R3 (the drilling one, rotational degree of freedom along the perprendicular axis of the element), so your beam element would be free to rotate along its axis. Thta is why a 1D element is connected with...
