Thanks for the replies, let me clarify. The device is small (roughly 1" x 0.5" x 0.25"), single use only, medical device and has two chambers separated by a thin metallic membrane. I'm looking for a way to seal the two outer housings to each other and sandwiching the membrane between them. I...
Does anyone have any experience with creating a hermetic seal on metal housings that are sandwiching a thin metal membrane? I'm told overloading will have its challenges since there will likely always be a fluid leak path between the metal and the plastic.
Hello,
We have a highly viscous paste emulsion that we are having a hard time keeping stable. We currently use a kitchen-aid mixer to mix it and we transfer it from the mixing bowl into a sheet of saran and then into a sealed jar. This isn't working since we need to open the jar to pull...
Thanks Compositepro. Unfortunately we cannot change the device, it already uses a positive displacement system to push the paste through the nozzles, but we can't add a feedback control in the device, since it's only about 1" x 0.5" x 0.25". I'll check out the link.
THat's my theory as well, SuperSalad, but I'm not a chemist and our chemist says that because the viscosity of our paste emulsion is so high it is very unlikely that it would absorb water. Assuming he's correct, would there be anything else that could be at play here? Our flow test occurs at...
Compositepro, It certainly is thixotropic, but does that mean that it could be settling just sitting in it's storage container causing a decrease in viscosity?
We have an oil in water emulsion, with a very low percentage of water (~7%) and a very high percentage of fine particles (~20 micron). It resembles a thick paste similar to cream cheese. We are using a small nozzle system to control the flow (which is very likely plug flow) of the paste to...
Thanks for the reply, the flow/pressure won't be constant, it will be coming from a syringe that someone will be manually applying pressure to a single outlet that will be split into 4 lines, each line going to a separate needle. I don't need equal flow exactly but if all of the nozzles can be...
I'm working on a design for a device that infuses a slightly viscous material (~7cP) through 4 small nozzles. The nozzles will be embedded into tissue and will likely have different resistance to flow. In order to eliminate the possibility that all of the material will flow through the needle...
So by heating the third floor I wouldn't be eliminating the driving force for the heat from the first two floors from rising to the third floor? Isn't that the second law of thermodynamics?
I'm not sure what you mean by that's what the thermostats are for. There are currently thermostats on the first and second floor. The ductless system would have a "thermostat" in each of the rooms on the third floor. So my question is if I crank the heat on the third floor would less of the...
I have a 3 story home with an un conditioned third floor (with an insulated attic above that). I'm obviously losing a lot of heat to the third floor in the winter since all three floors are connected by stairs without any doors separating them. As a result the first two floors are never as...
I believe they were milled from a plate. They were machined in China and I've had problems with their supplier giving them the wrong material in the past, even supplying certs that were false. This is why I've been skeptical and after the XRF I've confirmed that it's the right grade, now I...
