Abaqus 2017 and isight 2017: not reading the odb in the Abaqus component

A note for everyone: - it seems that Isight cannot open odb created with more than 2 cpus using Abaqus 2017 - it is a known bug that isight cannot open odbs larger than 4GB. I have developed a workaround with python and batch scripts in sim code and command components. The most important thing...

Abaqus 2017 and isight 2017: not reading the odb in the Abaqus component

Just an update: Also Abaqus 2016 odbs are not read by isight after the analyses finish. The version is isight df01, so I guess an update could help?

Abaqus 2017 and isight 2017: not reading the odb in the Abaqus component

Hi all, I am using Abaqus 2017 and isight 2017 and I am having some issues. In particular, I am working with the abaqus component: 1- I try to import the odb file generated with Abaqus 2017 using more than 1 cpu. I have an error that says that there are not odb files. 2- If I try to import an...

Isight, python and abaqus: limitations in preprocessing scripts?

Solved the issue: I added a group of nodes I did not select to the Back_Displ set. I added a command to select those nodes beforehand. Now the code is running smoothly. Even defining Theta_par=float(value('Theta_par')) is fine.

Isight, python and abaqus: limitations in preprocessing scripts?

Where can I find the jobs that are running in isight? I would like to open the produced inp file, to check which are the issues and if it was generated properly. The errors I have are: local variable 'Back_Displ' referenced before assignment Error in dat file at line 70. ***ERROR: in keyword...

Isight, python and abaqus: limitations in preprocessing scripts?

Hi all! I have developed an Abaqus model that is automatically modified by a Python script (it starts from scratch). I have created some cycles and I have already obtained some surfaces of response varying 3 parameters combining python and matlab. Now, I would like to create an approximation...

Excluding elements from a set using a script

I have a very large set of elements and I need to exclude a small group of them from that large set . Therefore, at the moment I have: - Large set of elements - Small set of elements that is included in the large one Can I exclude the small set from the large set, using a Python script in...

Scripts for merging instances in Abaqus and error 193

I agree with you Mustaine. I was just too tired and had too many things to do. Luckily today I found the error in 5 minutes just checking it again. Just a comma... The second method gave the same results as the last one, except for a comma and a square parenthesis. While the second one was not...

Scripts for merging instances in Abaqus and error 193

I am writing a script to create a parametric analysis of my model. My problem is that it is composed by many different unit cells, so I need to merge all of them in an automatic way through the script. I am using this script: a = mdb.models.rootAssembly SingleInstances_List =...

Evolution of Temperature in Abaqus model applying only Temperatures on the structure?

I am not an expert in thermo-mechanical problems and am trying to solve a thermo-mechanical problem in Abaqus. However, I have some problems with the use of Temperature. My structure has a starting temperature of 300K and, suddenly, one face suffers an increase of Temperature up to 600K. I would...

Use of *Parameter card and subroutines

I know I can use Python for writing some scripts and do parametric analyses and the fortran subroutines have a different scope. However, I would like to change the declaration vusdfld() at the beginning of the code to say I am adding also parameters from the INP file. Or add some lines in the...

Use of *Parameter card and subroutines

I am still playing with subroutines in Abaqus 6.13 and I was trying to obtain the most from them. I am using the *Parameter card to obtain a standard code which can be used for different studies, just changing the parameters at the beginning. My problem is that these parameters are not passed...

Error in look-up table generation: which dataline entries to add?

Hi Bartosz, thank you very much. It is really clear and I got which was my mistake. One of my independent variables (the last one) was indeed a dependent variable from Temperature (the stiffness itself in this case). Now I changed it, using a completely independent variable (Z in my case) and...

Error in look-up table generation: which dataline entries to add?

    Hi Bartosz, thank you for the info about the .pes file. Here you are the table (in Pa): *Elastic, dependencies=2 185775736440.0, 0.3,650.0, , 185775736440.0 191678923675.0, 0.3,650.0, , 191678923675.0 207787706560.0, 0.3,300.0, , 207787706560.0 209388485381.0, 0.3,650.0, ...

Error in look-up table generation: which dataline entries to add?

I am playing a bit with subroutines in Abaqus 6.13 to understand how they work. At the moment I am using a VUSDFLD to variate the stiffness/density/conductivity in a model (I defined the field variable) depending on Temperature and Position. It seems that there are not particular errors in the...
