@XL83NL I think AD2000 Merkblatt has a hard limit on temperature for the use of repads.
EN13445 says you need to avoid it, but in the same sentence they say if you need to use repads, you need to use the same material and need to avoid thermal stress concentrations. What you can interpret as...
Like TGS4 (Mechanical) mentioned, UG-44(b) is very conservative. Code case 2901-1 describes a much more accurate values of Fm. most software however will not yet have the option to use this option. likely you or your vessel supplier will have to write your own file.
Note, CC2901-1 is added in...
hello all,
Does anyone know where you can submit errors in the code? I found an error in the saddle calculation that has been in the code since 2010.
I found this a few years ago but did not have a clue where to report it. Recently i have been testing a few commercial software and noticed that...
Dear all,
I have just got confirmation from our ASME U-Stamp notified body that until there is an Errata about this the code must be followed.
This means you need to use Ri=0.9xD for an 2:1 ellipsoidal head. For all other ellipsoidal heads formula of ASME VIII Div2 paragraph 4.3.7 must be used...
Hello ENG2194,
Because I also did not know the answer to your 3th question I asked this to the supliers of nozzlepro, below their answer. Note, your plots 10 and 11 are my plots 6 and 7.
"If you notice, plots 6 and 7 are not referenced in the tabular reports. Plots 6 (membrane only) and 7...
Dear all,
I also have found this error in the code and have transmitted this info to a pressure vessel software developing company.
formula in ASME VIII div2 code is incorrect, it uses Ri defined as "inside radius of the spherical dome or a torispherical head", for an ellipsoidal head. We all...
Hello,
You could try to round the value on both sides of the equation. We do not have prime but in mathcad15 this works to round down values with units:
Round(12.1234mm,0.01mm)=12.12mm.
Note in Mathcad15 there is a difference between round() and Round().
Regards,
Rob
I have also used Draftsight up to beginning of this year when it was no longer free.
I now have switched to Nanocad. The basic version is free.
It works just like Autocad / Draftsight.
Regards,
Rob
Hello all,
This is an interesting post to me, we always try to stay or below height to width ratio of 10 for ASME and EN13445 vessels. for AD2000 of course on or below 8.
I immediately entered the formula in Mathcad and checked a few of our most common materials at 3 different temperatures...
Thank you for the quick reply,
I have indeed checked PV Elite and VVD. I have found no option in those programs to include it. I have send the question to the person I'm contact with but did not get a decent reply yet. I will keep you posted on this one.
I have already earlier check NextGen...
Hello ENG2194
We do not use compress however we do use standard(standalone) nozzlepro. However your output of the nozzlepro is different then our standard output.
1) This is indeed the stress on the inside surfaces and outside surfaces of the shell/nozzle.
2) In plots 8 and 9 stresses "F" are...
Hello all,
I hope someone can help me.
(background)
I have been checking several pressure vessel design software to see how they work and if they can improve our design process.
At the moment we are using commercial software for ASME VIII div1 pressure calculation, for other codes and for wind...
hello,
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I'm new to the forum.
I was wondering if there are people out here who are also using DesignCalcs or other programs from CEI? we are having some issues with pricing going up drastically(150% to keep it functioning as we had previous year!)...
hello,
does anyone have an old copy of Ed 1989? we would like to check if figures of UW13.1 have changed over the years inorder to understand following interpretation correctly.
Code Interpretations - VIII-1
Interpretation: VIII-1-92-02
Subject: Section VIII, Division 1 (1989 Edition, 1989...
