It's actually a Lift Station with double containment, see image.
Thanks for your responses! I did think the volume includes the tank itself. But because it's not spelled out anywhere and our AHJ can be pesky at times, I figured I'd ask.

Good day, everyone!
Question re: secondary containment of a tank.
Code says a containment should be "(vii) capable of containing at least 110 percent of the capacity of the largest tank or manifolded tanks that are connected in such a way as to permit the combined contents to spill, whichever...
Of course. Fail on my part for not being more precise!
The concentration of each is within a range, e.g.
5-45% ethyl lactate
20-40% IPA
15-30% acetone
and so on..
We don't know the exact concentrations most likely because it's proprietary.
So I figured I'd look up each chem at the highest...
Question from a non-chemical engineer..
I know how to use compatibility charts to select a pipe material for one chemical, but how does one go about when you have a recipe consisting of several chems?
For example, I have a mixture of:
45% Ethyl Lactate
40% IPA
30% Acetone
25% Ethanol
etc.
Do...
Project: major semiconductor fab A
Senior designer delivers his drawings to me for review, all proud of himself.
It doesn't take me 5 seconds to realize he copy pasted the design details from major semiconductor fab B, arch-nemesis of fab A. He even used the exact same spec code, used at fab...
After years of going to the gym and realizing it's really not doing anything for me, I recently joined a Crossfit box. After a couple of weeks, I'm feeling better than I have in the past ten 15 years. And a session is only one hour!
A light or no breakfast (why force yourself to eat if you're...
Careful for "plan stamping", though. Unless you actually design or supervise the design work, you're not allowed to stamp in many if not most states.

When can an engineer start calling himself "senior" engineer?
Not that I care much about titles, but since I discovered that in my workplace, becoming one is a promotion that comes with a few extra $$$, I'm asking myself that question.
Looking around me and on professional social media like...
@ JAE: I disagree. An ME can have expertise in electrical systems related to his mech systems. Some disciplines have an overlap Mech/Chem, process engineers comes in mind, and I've seen a lot of ME stamping "process" drawings.
Reading the rules, a PE can seal work done by others provided a...
New York is the state. And the firm is, indeed, looking for PEs so it can keep calling itself an engineering firm. PEs are hard to come by in our branch!
Our firm has E&O insurance, and that's the kind of information I was looking for. I'll make sure to understand what it all means when/if I...
Hi all,
The engineering firm I work for has asked me to become one of their engineers of record, allowing the firm to become a "professional engineering" firm.
I understand the responsibilities that come with stamping design documents, but what should I be aware of if my name is being put up...
E. Must not read your resume before calling you to waste your time. They call without even knowing what engineering discipline you're in!
Ha! I forgot this one: recruiter calls me for a position as a civil engineer to work on design of wastewater treatment plants. I tell him I'm not a civil...
Recently I uploaded my resume to Monster, not that I'm actively looking, but I'm open to opportunities for a variety of reasons. Since then, not a day goes by when I get an email or phone call from a recruiter. This would be great, except that 99% of the positions they offer have either nothing...
I have another entry-level candidate coming in today. What I'm hoping to hear when asked the question why he wants to work with us: "It's my first job, I want to gain experience and start making money so I can move out of my parents' house and live my life." Not some BS answer rehearsed in...
@rotw
"I would like to make a point relatively to the OP, sometimes young or fresh graduate can have difficulties managing their emotional stress during interview "
The kid looked like he just woke up after a night of playing video games and had a whatever attitude. Blood pressure = zero.

Just wanted to share this..
We recently had a young grad in our office to interview for an entry level mechanical engineer position.
Q: What type of systems would you like to work on / are you interested in?
A: HVAC! I want to design HVAC systems. I have a passion for it and want to do pursue...
you can also select all your messages in a folder, and Save As PDF. I use this all the time, as I never know if i'll still be using Outlook 10 years from now..
