    trigger mechanism efficiency

I digested your comments; All very valid -thks. "There is a gain effect, but that controls the effective rating of the system, not the actual magnitude of the force that's being controlled. The effect of those is to make the required input force essentially load-independent - at which point...

    trigger mechanism efficiency

Yes, amplification is a better term to describe what i was getting at. With unlimited size of the device, i imagine one could get some pretty dramatic amplification. however, i see size as an issue. so that is why i was wondering if size were included in any determination of the effectiveness...

    trigger mechanism efficiency

Are calculations made regarding the efficiency of a mechanical trigger mechanism? Case in point i just built a 'device', which releases 450 nt of force in a linear mode. It is triggered by a 4 nt forge. This would represent an approximate 1% ratio, as i would see it. The rough cubic volume of...

reduce sliding friction on solenoid plunger used as a trigger release.

well, don't actually have drawing yet. i'm building this as i go. it is part of project. as far a solenoid, don't have that yet either. am using a nail to act as the shaft of solenoid. But given the reduction in friction that i need to make, i was hoping to make some sort of technical leap...

reduce sliding friction on solenoid plunger used as a trigger release.

looking for any suggestions on how to greatly reduce sliding friction on a solenoid plunger that is being used to initiate a trigger action. A lever arm is held in tension by a spring. the solenoid plunger is holding the lever arm in position. When the plunger is retracted, the tension spring...

clamping force on 1/2" dia rod

i ordered 1 each of the 3 different sizes. so we'll see how it goes with the trekking pole clamp.

clamping force on 1/2" dia rod

regarding trekking poles - am familiar with these. only issue i see with that currently is the lock/unlock method requires a twisting, circular motion. Right now I don't see this practical for my particular application. good thought, though. The bike seat clamp seem most appropriate so far.

clamping force on 1/2" dia rod

    that would be great, thks

clamping force on 1/2" dia rod

"If the rod were machined with a series of grooves, like a thread with zero pitch, you could use a sort of half-nut clamp, closed by an easy to operate toggle if you wish. I'm not aware of any such thing for sale now, but it seems achievable." yes, i see your point. good idea. i'm probably...

clamping force on 1/2" dia rod

ok, basically I'm looking for the LEAST amount of circumferential force required to restrain the 1/2" rod, given that in a cocked mode their is 450N spring force trying to push it. so i see 3 options: 1. notch the rod 2. don't notch the rod 3. add a hard rubber coat on the inside of clamp to...

clamping force on 1/2" dia rod

thread404-396097 sounds like i may have a similar question to this previous inquiry. Am working with a 1/2" dia smooth rod that runs thru the center-line of a compression spring. In compression, the spring is exerting a nominal 450N force. I need to restrain the rod with a clamping device...
