Dock leveler pit on existing slab

We are assuming it is a slab on grade

Dock leveler pit on existing slab

One of out clients wants to place 2 new truck load stations in his facility, this would include cutting 2 openings on the existing concrete panel and doing some demolition on the existing slab to build the pits for 2 dock levelers. For the dock leveler pits, what would be the process...

expanding an opening on existing tilt up panel

I need to cut an opening on an existing tilt up panel. There's already a 9' door opening but they want a 20'x20' door so we need to make that opening bigger. We have no information about the panels (no size, thickness or rebar info). Given the size of the new opening I want to frame it. I need...

    Retaining Wall with height variation

Not really, I believe the TW has been already set by the developer or civil engineer. The wall might start at 0ft (finish grade) or from 1ft, so what should I do from 0ft to 4-5ft wall height? can I design a gravity wall and then switch to cantilever CIP?

    Retaining Wall with height variation

We don't have the exact measurements yet, but the wall will be about 300ft long

    Retaining Wall with height variation

Yes, the wall varies from 1ft to 20ft then down to 14ft

    Retaining Wall with height variation

I have to design a CIP cantilever retaining wall which height varies along with the terrain. How do I account for the different heights when designing the various components of the wall (stem, heel, toe)? Should I design for the worst case and keep that design through out the whole length of the...

    slab on grade

How does the height of the building affects the foundation type? I have a 26' pre-engineered building, but I am not sure if it can be supported on a slab-on-grade, or if it is better for it to be supporting on footings. Does this depend entirely on the loads/reactions?

    coped channel flexural capacity

I am trying to calculate the flexural capacity of a coped C8x11.5 (coped only at top flange) per AISC manual 14th Ed. I am having trouble using the equations/tables provided in the manual since the Snet seem to be only for W shapes. Also, when calculating the Fcr, what if I get a value greater...

typical frame shape for an AC unit

Is there a typical frame steel shape for supporting an AC unit of 1000 lbs weight? I got a C10 to work, but I don't know if for AC units it would be better to have W's or any other shape

    load combinations

I have a problem with a beam having both uniform and concentrated load applied. How do I apply the load combinations? should I distribute the concentrated loads and make them uniform?
