PSV discharge into bigger Expansion Bottle

Thanks Latexman, Its a conventional PSV valve. If we changed it into balanced as per what george said, design will work ad such ?

PSV discharge into bigger Expansion Bottle

Thanks for the explanation. Our oeprating pressuure is 120psig. I will have a look if vendor used balanced Bellows type valve. Latex i have attached bigger picture for your consideration...

PSV discharge into bigger Expansion Bottle

Thanks , Do you know where it shown in API521 that corresponds to my situation?

ASME B31.3 Hydrostatic Test pressure for valve

The spools are fabricated and hydrotested per the line list. Once that’s complete they install the snappy joe valves and do an additional leak test on the spool to 240 psig because the snappy joe pressure rating is not as high. Should not be a leak test as per pressure rating of the spool?

PSV discharge into bigger Expansion Bottle

Thanks guys. PSV-1002 is meant to release vapour fluid when the system between ESDV-1000 and P-1000 is blocked and thermal expansion (or fire) occurs and the expansion bottle is empty and hence the PSV will release into an empty "vessel". Since thermal expansion is a low volume release the...

PSV discharge into bigger Expansion Bottle

Hello Guys, My client design a skid in which they discharge PSV into another pipe that already installed with two PSV. I dont think its a good engineering to vent relief pressure into the piping system. What you guys think? Attach is the snap shot...

ASME B31.3 Hydrostatic Test pressure for valve

Hello guys, Im checking process of piping system mounted on a skid. It is LPG transloading Package. Our client performed hydrotest for 1 hour at 240 psi with valves in open open position on piping. Im confused does it meet ASMEB31.3 requirements. What is the maximum hydrostatic test pressure...

    Tank Anchor Chair Bolt Specifications

Thanks, As per API-650 Table 5.21, the yield strength is limited to 55000 psi and A193 B7 has yield strength of 93000psi. Moreover code says that yield strength of bolt material shall not exceed minimum yield strength of shell. Can we use A307 in place of A193 B7?

    Tank Anchor Chair Bolt Specifications

Thanks for the reoly . Do we think using sane yield strength nut with the stud can resolve any issue that may arise . ASTM 193 B7 threaded rod and A194-2H nuts. Should I be worried for the plate material that has low yield strength I.e 36 ksi

    Tank Anchor Chair Bolt Specifications

Hello Great Brainers, I have little concern related to bolting specifications for tank anchor bolt chairs. As per API 650 and our client specifications, we are required to use ATM F1554 for anchor bolts. Our client is stressing me to use ASTM 193 B7 threaded rod and A194-2H nuts ( which is for...

    Shell plate Thickness 3/16"

Thanks IFRs, Our lower plate shall thickness is 1/4" but upper course plates are 3/16" and that complies with 5.6.1.1. Do you think we need to go for any material testing rwqyirmemt to approve that design .? I also calculated noozle loads and they are not creating stress on the plates as...

    Shell plate Thickness 3/16"

Yes according to basic standard of the code, we are allowed to use 3/16" plate thickness but not with Annex J. I have also checked my design using One foot method using both design fluid thickness and hydrostatic test thickness and both are less than client shell plate thickness 3/16". Please...

    Shell plate Thickness 3/16"

I'm right now checking a design of 32 ft high and 15 ft wide tank with 1000 bbl capacity. After running Ametank software , i found shell thickness is 3/16" which is non compliant to API650 standard annex J , for shop assembled tanks. My client was insisting to approve this design as lower...
