    Thanks Apetri, That was helpful. I was mostly thinking about streams with recycle. I work mostly with solids and liquids and steam.

    Does anybody know of a good Excel-based program for performing mass and energy balances that is not too expensive, ie. above $5000? I found a demo at www.iengineer.systems that seems OK and is free for up to 15 streams with recycle but I am looking at all options. Thanks
