Tracking the revision separately for part and drawing

Great Thread. Ask any software maker and they will tell you its absolutley necessary to have minor revisions and almost all have adopted it - from internet explorer I am viewing in his page 8.0.7600.16385 We have a number of geographical sites so pre-production, whilst designs are being...

Splitting a Single Pipe into two smaller pipes and rejoining

Thanks guys, Ted unfortuantely this hose connects a static and a moving part so there is no getting away from bending it.

Splitting a Single Pipe into two smaller pipes and rejoining

Hi all, We have a piece of moving machinery operated hydraulically which works in an area with limited space. I am having a problem designing the routing of a -24 (1 1/2") flexible tube because the minimum bend radius (around 500mm for 210 Bar rated hose). If I were to split this -24 hose...

K factors for Hydraulic Manifold Block

Hi Katmar, Yes the diameters are around 20mm - 30mm. Thanks for the input. Dave

K factors for Hydraulic Manifold Block

vzeos, Unfortunately I don't have access to this particular book, but you are correct a 90 deg mitre is the closest description I have seen. The only reference to a loss factor k for this I can find is 1.1 from BS Massey.

K factors for Hydraulic Manifold Block

Hi all, Does anyone have any suggestions or know of published data on K factors for a machined hydraulic manifold block. What I am most interested in is a typical 90 degree bend (eg R/d = 0) created from boring into the block from different sides of block. Also, does standard 'equivalent...

Simple (relatively) Beam Supports, pinned or not

Hi All, Have been toying around in my head for a day or so now a problem that can be simplified to that as shown here; http://www.mytempdir.com/868898 (note - drawn in 3rd Angle) With a load at G. My question is; If I am to model this with fixed ends that support a moment Mz by placing a...

    Rolling back a rev table

yep, in the normal course of events my pinky and middle finger hover over Ctrl+z... in this case it was a few Ctrl+z moments too many [thumbsup2]

    Rolling back a rev table

Found a kind of work around, create a new revision row, change the letter in the revision balloon to what it should be then delete it (if required). Now when adding a new row in the table it should. Doesn't seem to update the embedded value though ie, the a note containing property linked to...

    Rolling back a rev table

Hi all, Making a drawing just now I accidently added a couple of rows too many in a revision table (SW standard table) and deleted them. Anyway now when I add a rev it wants to go from Rev B to Rev E. Anyone know where I can reset this? Dave

    Weld symbol upside down

What welding standard are you using? I would have thought the |\ symbol is correct for a bevel weld below the line (assuming the line is at the apex). If it was the other way round would you not have a fillet weld? dw

    Rotary Encoder to a Laptop

Hi All, I need to spec some components to price up and achieve the following; Get data from a Rotary encoder to a laptop for data gathering. This will be a field device (picture someone setting up a stationary wheel that touches an oscillating plate) recording the linear motion via the...

    Software program for AS 4600

Pretty sure Formsys's Multiframe package has the 4600 standard as an add on.

    Roark's "Singularity Function Bracket"?

    Love this type of stuff, do you have a proof you can quickly post here Greg (Way off topic I know but...) The example I found on the net was; 2x3 = 1 x 2 x 3 = 6 2^3 = 1 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 Therefore; 2^0 = 1 and 0^0 = 1 DW

    Slenderness of columns

I doubt COSMOS Express would be failing because of the memeber failing under buckling. I would be very very wary of using Cosmos express in this way. There are some very simple calculations available for buckling by (amongst others) a chap named Euler. In its simplest form for pinned ends...

Looking for a weldment profile library.

I would dearly love a weldment profile library as well. I am interested in structural sections, European and US. Have created a few thus far. Dave

    Camera View Quality

I have defined a camera view which has really poor performance in that the resulting image looks like the image quality when rotating a large assembly. ie, cylinders have become rectangular blocks. Smaller components are blobs. Large assembly mode is turned off and all other perfomance/image...

    Nice LCD for SW

Why don't stand alone monitors come in the WXGA flavour without getting so large? Those using laptop with this screen 1920x1200 resolution will know it has a huge amount of real-estate. All squeezed into a 15.4 inch widescreen display. The nearest I have seen in a standalone monitor is 24...

Tell SW to ignore a error in part

Hi all, We have a component that has been sent to us in .iges from a supplier. Bringing it into SW is no problem but a few of the surfaces don't match (quite a complex piece). Anyway SW can't heal them so there is a constant warninng "!" in the part. Is there any way to tell SW to ignore it...
