Simulating fractionantion with ASPEN plus approach

HI, How do you choose the starting parameter for simulating a hydrocarbon assay that you only have the simulated distillation curve for? I tried doing it to the best of my knowledge, but the simulation is not converging, whatever I do, some feeds tend to disappear and the simulation will stop...

Any advantage to higher voltage motors?

I need to supply current to the electrodes. I will probably be needing several smaller units total around 150 kW. I thought about those PS https://magna-power.com/products/magnadc/ms. Ron

Any advantage to higher voltage motors?

A patented electrolysis process. I need to maintain a constant current while the voltage changes with the process.

Any advantage to higher voltage motors?

As I said, I am in Canada and have a 600V supply to the plant. I cannot find any 600V AC to DC converter so I will have to use a transformer. And this is a large part of the production costs, so I so should I invest more time on finding one or asking for a custom design? I've read in another...

Any advantage to higher voltage motors?

Well, this is confusing... So if I understand correctly, there shouldn't be any difference for small motors? The autotransformer seems like a great option for us, I will check it out. I was thinking of buying those AC to DC converters https://magna-power.com/products/magnadc/ms, several of those...

Any advantage to higher voltage motors?

Thank you, since I need a DC power supply, that I could only find at 480V, I figured I will have to buy a transformer anyhow, so I might as well expand the available motors that I can use.

Any advantage to higher voltage motors?

Hi, I am trying to figure out what type of motor should I use for the equipment for the pilot I design. Is there any advantage to 575V 3p motor over 440V 3p? I am talking mostly about low output motors, up to 10kW. Will there be any advantage for 150kW equipment? Thanks, Ron

    Flash Drum calculations

Thank you for your help, I have managed to calculate the flash properties, but I am having an issue with the sizing of the flush drum. Liquid flow rate is 662 kg/h, gas flow rate 72 kg/h. Densities of 710 kg/m3 and 0.9. I calculated the tank diameter with 2 methods, Watkin's correlation, i got...

    Flash Drum calculations

I wish I did, that what made me forget some of those basic calculations. Another issue with ASPEN is it lacks the database for heavier hydrocarbons.

    Flash Drum calculations

Thank you Latexman, I know the separation should be easy, but I need numbers for the pilot design, and I am actually dealing with a mixture of C30-34, and some residue of C14-18. The truth is that I am very rusty with those calculations, can you direct me to some example? Thanks, Ron

    Flash Drum calculations

Hi Everyone, I need to design a small scale flash drum for pilot plant, I need to remove methanol residues from paraffin wax. How to do this calculation when I cannot find any VLE graph for paraffin/Methanol. Thanks, Ron
