Filtering mud out of compressed air lines

That'll get rid of most of it. For the rest of it, I'm guessing I'll need an air-water separator. And if I don't want the drain to clog, I'll need a filter upstream of it. Is that right?

Filtering mud out of compressed air lines

I have a problem on mining equipment where an air solenoid valve is sticking on a 250 cfm shotcrete nozzle. In the mine, the 1" compressed air line is often dragged and submerged in mud before connecting to truck-mounted equipment. Despite our best efforts in training miners to blow air through...

    Looking for a mine-duty on/off air valve

This is a 1.25" air line. To actuate the valve, we have a 24VDC system, mine air (with dust), or hydraulics (4400 psi load sense system). Filtration is starting to sound more appealing as I'm proving how difficult it is to find a contamination-resistant valve fit for this application. Magnatrol...

    Looking for a mine-duty on/off air valve

Good call on diaphragm material! It is currently NBR. I'm not sure if switching material would fix the issue though, since the current workaround is to wipe down the diaphragm then reassemble the valve whenever it sticks open. The valve works fine after wipedown, until another layer of dust...

    Looking for a mine-duty on/off air valve

Hello everyone! I'm having trouble with a cleanout nozzle on some mining equipment-- the solenoid valve for this nozzle sticks open. The air going into this nozzle has a lot of dust/water, which prevents the diaphragm from sealing properly. I've considered filtering this air, but get backlash...

Can I cause damage to cylinders by pulling a vacuum?

I'm making a hydraulic suspension system for a heavy truck (mining equipment hauler). Essentially, it's a trailing arm design with a hydraulic cylinder in the place of a usual spring/shock. As a safety feature, the cylinders have an on-off valve attached on the "extend" side of the cylinders to...
