If the inlet air of a CT has a very low humidity (30%) compared to a day with high humidity (70%), would I be correct to say that there will be an increase in water consumption? I believe that when the relative humidity is high, not much evaporation will take place and vice versa.
Would anybody happen to know the formula to calculate the flow coefficient (Cv) of a valve in metric units? I stumbled onto an online calculator but am unsure the formula which it uses. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it greatly. Cheers...
Hi Everyone,
I seem to understand it now. However, does anyone seem to know what formula this website uses to calculate the Cv value?

Cheers!
Hello Everyone,
I did more research into this, and it seems that the calculated Cv value is used as a preliminary value to determine the most suitable type of valve/regulator for its application (depending on the valves/regulators Cv). Is this correct?
From my understanding, coefficient of flow basically determines how easily a fluid flows through a valve. How does one determine the Cv value though? For example, I’ve checked the manufactures specs for a regulator and it states that the Cv=1.2. However, wouldn’t this value of Cv vary depending...
You are a life-saver! Thank you for your insight. The dryer does indeed use a separate blower during regeneration phase. I will be sure to get my manager to review my work, I am still new to this field of engineering. Cheers!.
Hi RVAmeche,
Thanks for the tip! If for example the temperature changes within the desiccant towers at around 100F during adsorption phase and 200F during regeneration phase, does that mean I need to calculate the required relief rates at both instances?
Also if I have 2 small compressor that...
Can anyone provide some tips in regards to calculating the required PSV orifice area for desiccant towers?
I've been referring to API 520 but I am not sure what the relieving temperature should be as
it alters within the desiccant towers. The fluid is compressed air if that helps.
