The shear area in 3 direction of an I section is different in SAP2000 and ETABS as shown in the image. Can someone please explain me how the shear area is calculated in SAP2000 and ETABS? I read the manuals but I couldn't find any difference. Thanks in advance
I remember reading/hearing somewhere that in a seismic region the size of a concrete column shouldn't be smaller than the depth of the beams connected to that column or something like that. Is this stated in the ACI? If so, where? because I can't find it. I can't remember where I read/heard this...
18.7.6.2.1 Transverse reinforcement over the lengths lo, given in 18.7.5.1, shall be designed to resist shear assuming
Vc = 0 when both (a) and (b) occur:
(a) The earthquake-induced shear force, calculated in accordance with 18.7.6.1, is at least one-half of the maximum required shear strength...
Hi, I am modelling a 3 story building and I am using 40x40cm columns. Some columns fail the stress/capacity check. If I decrease the size of those columns to 35x35cm, all the columns pass. This seems counter intuitive to me. Does someone know why this happens?. Thanks
