    Shear area SAP2000 vs ETABS

The shear area in 3 direction of an I section is different in SAP2000 and ETABS as shown in the image. Can someone please explain me how the shear area is calculated in SAP2000 and ETABS? I read the manuals but I couldn't find any difference. Thanks in advance

Is this stated in the ACI? If so, where? because I can't find it. I can't remember where I read/heard this...

    Sap2000 Column size

Hi, I am modelling a 3 story building and I am using 40x40cm columns. Some columns fail the stress/capacity check. If I decrease the size of those columns to 35x35cm, all the columns pass. This seems counter intuitive to me. Does someone know why this happens?. Thanks
