Do LED light tables used in the cleanroom for visual inspection (in biopharma industry) require periodic light intensity measurement? If yes, then what is the reference cGMP or FDA standard
Yes, but FMEA is also for analyzing possible failures and risks associated with them. I am trying to analyze what possible failures can be there when sampling plans for inspection are not followed/implemented?
Hi,
I am trying to develop FMEA for not inspecting parts per acceptance sampling standard. Any input or reference document will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
@SPDL310 Thanks for your reply.
This is a 2" floating ball valve ANSI Class 1500 with soft seats (PEEK material). High torques are seen under full differential pressure as well as low pressure. Bypass line cannot be used so we must have to redesign the seat geometry.
We have a seat design for ball valve that produces high break torques. To save actuation costs, we need to redesign the seat geometry in order to reduce the torques. Is there any guideline or book for seat design that advises on seat geometry for low torques and at the same time not compromising...
@bcd(Mechanical) ... is there any sample FEA calculations/modeling you have or refer me to, so I can have an idea what boundary conditions to apply, etc.
Does anyone know the calculations for determining the value of the downstream seat sealing force against the ball when there is no differential pressure in a floating balll valve?
The issue that manufacturers state for not doing seat tests in control valves per ASME B16.34 and API-598 is that high pressure (1.1 x rated pressrue of valve) may crush the seats and they may not be able to seal at low-pressure test parameter per ANSI FCI 70-2. Do they need to change the seat...
Does anyone know what is the test pressure for the seat closure test of control valves? Per ANSI FCI-70-2, test pressure should be 51psi (when test fluid is air or nitrogen) which is only a low-pressure test. Per ASME B16.34, the seat testing pressure should be 1.1 x rated pressure of the valve...
While comparing the leakage rates of ANSI FCI 70-2 Class V against Class VI, I realized that Class V has lower allowable leakage than Class VI. For example: 2" Class 150 metal seated valve with Class V rating has a leakage rate = 0.285ml/min while the same valve with soft seats and Class VI...
Yes. That's correct but why does the magnitude of both torques vary? Why they are not the same ... torque generated during spring compression stroke should be equal to the torque generated during spring expansion stroke!
Why the torque output in the rack and pinion actuator during air stroke (when springs are being compressed) is less than the torque generated by the spring return stoke? As per Hooke's law applied force on the spring should be equal to the restoring force of the spring so the torques should be...
Does any know or point me to the calculation method for computing the joint strength of 2" NPT (SS-316 material) Male (valve endcap)x Female (valve body) threads? Also need to calculate the shear strength of the threads.

HitokiriAoshi ... although the API-641 test doesn't care about the seat condition after the test, our concern is that if we subject a soft seated valve with graphite stem packing to Group A/B test parameters, the soft seats will wear down at 600psig + 500F + 610 mechanical cycles, which will...
Thank you Danlap and BCD for your replies.
The reason we do not want to use metal seats is that we want soft seated valves to qualify for the API-641 Group A/B test. Metal seats can definitely handle the test conditions, but soft seats provide bubble-tight shut-off and lower seat torques for...
What soft seat material is recommended that can withstand "Group A" test conditions of this standard which are 600psig at 500deg.F (methane gas)? I believe TFM/PTFE seats cannot withstand these conditions. Does anyone know any other soft seat material for ball valve to be tested for API 641...
Does anyone know how to mathematically or thru CFD calculate the CV of a 6in 3-way T-port ball valve? See attached for reference..https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=ca78175f-6248-4df8-9a13-ac518f3083f0&file=3-way.JPG
Can someone suggest how to make a radial cut in this part? The model needs to have a Radius equal to R-C as shown in the drawing. See attachment
