Creating an NX assembly directly from TC Visualization Pro, visible/selected items only

In the end the STEP export worked, though none of the part names were carried over. Not a problem for me; maybe it was a setting I missed. Anyway, if someone knows of a way to do what I originally asked, I'd still like to know.

Creating an NX assembly directly from TC Visualization Pro, visible/selected items only

I'll preface this by saying that I do not have much familiarity with Teamcenter Visualization Professional and only basic use of NX, and there's not much support available to me on my company's side, so I turn to you for some guidance. I am using NX 2007 and TC Viz Pro 12.2. I am working with...

Advice on a strategy to get expression data into and out of a spreadsheet

Actually, looks like I spoke too soon. My goal is to move a DatumCSYS that has been defined via Offset CSYS using expressions, not fixed values. Changing the type to Dynamic, moving the DatumCSYS using the handles, and changing back to OffsetCSYS turns the offset quantities into fixed values...

Advice on a strategy to get expression data into and out of a spreadsheet

Thanks cowski! Hadn't thought of the second approach, and it works great!!

Advice on a strategy to get expression data into and out of a spreadsheet

I guess this leads to a second question: Is my assumption that I can dynamically move a DatumCSYS that has been defined via OffsetCSYS wrong?

Advice on a strategy to get expression data into and out of a spreadsheet

Thank you for these suggestions. It sounds like option 3 is the way to go. If anyone else has any input, feel free to add it.

Advice on a strategy to get expression data into and out of a spreadsheet

NX version 1973, integrated with TC. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm pretty new to NX so there may be some fundamental misunderstandings about how things work here, but I hope this is clear enough: Part setup: -- DatumCSYS at part absolute origin, that stays...

Single operation/feature that will extract the perimeter curve from a Bounded Plane?

Hi, I have a workflow that involves the following situation: I create a Shadow Curve from a wave-linked point in space, using various bodies as masks, and projected onto a plane Since these bodies have some gaps and holes, the Shadow Curve contains some inner loops as well as the main...

Issue with Shadow Curve: one of several bodies is completely ignored by Shadow Curve

Hi, I successfully used Shadow Curve in about 10 different instances using a collection of Bodies as the mask. However, I have now found that there is one particular body in this collection that, if included in the Mask Geometry selection, will result in no output from Shadow Curve (to be...

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Update: removing the four tiny segments from the point file with the larger spacing worked! I'll now modify the script to skip every N rows in both point files and hope that fixes the one with smaller spacings.

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Thanks for the input, cowski. I'll try skipping lines in my point file script to increase the distance between points, but do note that I don't think this is the solution for the following reasons. 1) I already removed the 4 offending points that had the 1E-6 mm spacing and it did not affect...

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Unfortunately I am running out of ideas on how to solve this problem. I realize the topic has strayed a bit from my original question, but I think there's value in keeping everything in one place. I imported my point file using a script found on NXJournaling.com. I will paste the script at the...

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Thanks for the tip, cowski. I think it is related to the model updating. I haven't been able to work on this since last week but I do remember that there was an action I could take that presumably forced an update, and then they would show. For now it's fine as it is. Toost, there's not much I...

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Thank you, Toost, for that detailed explanation. I have tried it out a few times and I've found that the step where I get to select the start point does not always appear. This is a little disconcerting but in general the button does what I need. I also decided to try out cowski's suggestion...

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Bumping this thread because I would still like to know how I can, in one action, join multiple non-timestamp geometry points by straight line segments into a closed curve.

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Interesting! I very briefly experimented with spline creation based off points and I thought I was not able to reduce the order number below a value of 2 (I think?). So in summary, as long as the points are connected by straight lines and the resulting curve works with the rest of the steps, I'm...

Best approach for (file > points > closed curve) to make two curves, then (curves > ruled > body)?

Hi! I'm pretty inexperienced with NX so I wanted to hear your thoughts on the best way to approach this task. See image here. I want to generate a volume that connects two closed curves, let's call these curves A and B. I think I will probably be using Ruled to create this volume. The...

How to create a solid that represents the shadow of an object projected by a point light source?

Thank you Jerry and mmauldin! Ruled surface definitely looks like part of what I need.

How to create a solid that represents the shadow of an object projected by a point light source?

Thanks Jerry. I have been trying to get that to work for a while now, but when I press OK it hangs and never completes the task. I think the problem is I have a mishmash of extracted surfaces from a native NX body, along with some surfaces that came from a STEP file. I'll keep trying...

How to create a solid that represents the shadow of an object projected by a point light source?

Unfortunately I don't have a version of NX that has the Shadow Curve feature. I have NX 11. Any other ideas on how to achieve this? :(
