High temperature sealant for SS hoses 1200 °F with NPT thread

Hello, we have flexible hoses in SS for high temperature exhaust gases (mainly nitrogen) up to 1200°F. Does anyone has experiences with one of the following sealants X-Pando, Deacon 8875-Thin,Flexitallic Graoil GTS and Loctite NS 5550? Is any of these sealants long lasting and can hot/cold...

Welding valves with sensitive internal gaskets

dvd, Client insist of welding since the media is Monosilane which ignites immediately at ambient atmosphere. Even PITs are welded and need to be cut our once damaged.

Welding valves with sensitive internal gaskets

Some more information. Sizes are 1-1.5" in 316. We finally used a bucket of water since the short pipe spool fit in.https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=a41a9191-0a25-4150-9dd6-121bcea44c74&file=IMG_20240506_100447.jpg

Welding valves with sensitive internal gaskets

Hi DVWE, that's the only I agree. We do carefull welding now and let the valve cool down. Alternatively we used a wet rag and kept the body cool.

Welding valves with sensitive internal gaskets

TugboatEng, The design was chosen due to the process parameters; 100% welded and gaskets acc. to media requirement. No alternative possible.

Welding valves with sensitive internal gaskets

Dear All, what is the common practice to socket weld valves with internal gaskets e.g noeprene, N-Butan. The heat impact can damage the gaskets. The supplier does not provide a clear instruction other than "use heat sink or other method to avoid damage". There are many ways to do it but what...

    Welding Sockolets in 304

Why is that DVWE. I am neither a welding engineer nor a welder. Thanks

    Welding Sockolets in 304

Yes it could be done but very time consuming.Weldolet would have been the right choice. But the project is in Czech and will be done for US so it is difficult to get ASME fittings from stock.

    Welding Sockolets in 304

r6155. Yes I agree but now we have to find a solution. Thanks for your input.

    Welding Sockolets in 304

Dear All, our contractor looks for a common way how to weld a 3/4" pipe (304) into a 3/4 "sockolet (304). The gap between sockolet and inserted pipe is to small (~0.1mm) to purge the oxygen completely with forming gas. There will be a risk of crevice corrosion. The pipe (3") uses many sockolets...

Seal face of flanges B16.5 RF / gasket B16.21

1503-44 The dimesnion of the gasket 3"-150 is ID 3.5" (89mm) However, the flange 3"-150 ID is 77mm. Yes I agree you can have pipes 3" with extra thick wall thickness but the flange remains the same.

Seal face of flanges B16.5 RF / gasket B16.21

Dear All, can someone provide me with a technical explanation why the flange seal face is not fully utilized by the gasket. I know the dimensions for the shown flange 3" RF 150 and the gasket 3" are both correct acc to the ASME code. What is the reason not matching the inner diameter of the...
