Leeb Hardness or Schmdt Hammer Hardness

Thanks Ron. We are using them more for relative index measurements, and are not replacing UCS testing. I have used Schmidt hammers in the past and found them very useful for relative hardnesses etc.

Leeb Hardness or Schmdt Hammer Hardness

I am looking to invest in some hardness index testing equipment for rock. I have used Schmidt hammers, getting a UCS from the Hoek calibration curves to estimate the Uni-axial Compressive Strength. However, I have now seen Leeb hardness testers being used, but I have no experience with them. I...

Rock Failure of Quarry Highwall Below Existing Development

This is an interesting problem and will be keeping an eye out for future developments. With the drone, are you thinking of doing some photogrammetry to map the face?

RS2 - Setting Support and Displacements

Perhaps you have not added enough tension to resist shear displacement? Also, just check that you have recalculated the problem and not just viewing an old calculation.

Use of saturated Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion and a water table

Hello all. I have recently read a report where someone has conducted a slope stability assessment using the rocscience SLIDE software. For this analysis, they defined the material using mohr-coulomb c=40kPa, phi = 25deg which was derived from CU triaxial tests. This test type represents a...
