1. The standard ABM seems to be the ABM coming toward the incoming missile at a high velocity (vector) difference.
Another option
2. Upon detection of missile, an ABM is launched and controlled via thrust to FOLLOW the missile and catch up to it. Eventually with no velocity difference the...
Check out the Russian Venus landers in the 1960's .
The surface temperature of Venus is 700 F , the landers internal electronics will fry at 300 F.
Solution - insulated box - with electronics inside, liquid next then the insulation on the hot outside.
Some liquid was chosen that would vaporize...
There are pressure sensors that can control to 1 Pa.
They can control the airflow (HVAC)through an open doorway.
Recall 1 ATM = 1.03 x 10^^5 Pa so this "pressure" is next to nothing.
Googling "Pa" or force and sensor will probably get you what you want.
I want to build a flying platform ~24 ft long, 8 ft wide and 3 ft high.
I am very concerned about the low inertia of the longitudinal/roll axis - if a gust of wind causes severe roll to happen -say 30 degrees in 0.5 seconds the pilot will not be able to react quickly enough.
Therefore -two...
I want to build a gyro from a motorcycle wheel - maybe about 30lbs including motor to maintain gyro rpm.
Does anyone have any examples of similar size/capability?
Thanks.
Winnipeg Canada has had a super cold winter (2013-2014) with frost depth now at 7-8 ft. The street domestic water supply pipes are being plugged with ice.
City workers are defrosting the pipes by electric (welder?) resistance heating which takes 20 min > hours? each time - there are 1000 houses...
Standard dimension in Canada is 16 inches center to center for 2 by 4 inch(actually 1.5x3.5inch) wood studs.
If 2x6 (actually 1.5x5.5 inches) studs are used then the center to center distance is 24 inches.
Don't know for steel studs but probably the same so they can be substituted 1:1.
A quick and dirty answer might be to hold some new white wire over a candle flame at various heights and see what happens.
If you are worried about the candle flames "products of conbustion" maybe a 100 watt light bulb as the heat source or a hot soldering iron.
Mark pulley and belts.
Get a strobe flash that can be activated by one of the markers - this will work during a full load test -slipage might only occur at full load.
Can a cell phone with an "app" be made to do this ? - along with complete recording video.
Because of the spiral angle of the wire groupings the "E" of the group will be different than one wire with no angle.
As the wire group stretches the angle of the spiral will change.
