    Nozzlepro Occasional Load Factor

TGS4: Thank you. Appendix 46 makes it clear.

    Nozzlepro Occasional Load Factor

If using Section VIII Div.1 for the pressure vessel design, but using the rules of Div.2 for the nozzle loading FEA, can the UG-23 1.2 allowable stress multiplier be used for the occasional loads (wind or seismic) allowable stress? I believe if using the rules of Div.2 for Div.1 calculations...

    Nozzlepro Occasional Load Factor

Hello, I spoke with Nozzlepro regarding the occasional load factor for wind or seismic. They are giving the default k=1. There is an option for k=1.2 but they said the ASME 2019 and later now requires k=1. If there is no allowable stress multiplier for occasional loads, is there any sense in...

Effect of Wind Loading on Vertical Vessel Nozzles

I would include additional projected area and/or roughness to allow for attached piping in the overall vessel loads for overturning, etc., but would not be too concerned about how the loads got transferred to the vessel. For nozzle evaluation, I would assume that if wind loads on piping were...

    Weld Sizing for RFSO Flange

Our shop does not like decimal fillet weld sizes or weld sizes to the 1/32". Is there a standard way to show that the fillet weld leg size is to cover the entire thickness of the nozzle? For example, for a 1-1/2" Sch.40 nozzle, the weld leg on the flange to end of nozzle would be .144"

Effect of Wind Loading on Vertical Vessel Nozzles

We have been provided with the piping loads from the skid manufacturer and are asked to calculate the nozzle loading on the vessel shell. This is for a 6.625" OD vessel on legs with 2 flanged nozzles. The specification calls for wind calculations. I assume that the wind loading on the vessel...

Seismic Design for ASME Section VIII, Div.1 Pressure Vessel Per EN 1998-1

I am hoping someone can point me in the correct direction. In EN 1998-1, for vertical pressure vessels. are the shear forces determined per Section 3.2.2 "Basic Representation of the Seismic Action" or Section 4.3.5 "Non Structural Elements?" If it is Section 4.3.5, how is the fundan1ental...

    B16.9 Pipe Cap

If a nozzle is to be welded to a standard pipe cap, should the pipe cap now be calculated as a 2:1 elliptical head instead of straight pipe since it is being modified from its original form?

    Forgings Per UG-6

Good afternoon, How is 'material worked sufficiently to remove the coarse ingot structure' defined? Is it verified by determining the grain size of the material? Also, does a material used for an ASME B16.5 flange meet this requirement? Thank you,
