    Plotting Proctor Curves

We use an excel spreadsheet to calculate moisture density values for ASTM 1557 ( sim T 180) and would like to use excel to plot the resulting curve. We are have trouble with units, labeling etc. Does anyone know of an available spreadsheet solution? Reasonable cost is ok.

    Improving bearing capacity with geogrid

We are using geogrid layers in approx. 5' of gravel fill (remote site location)over soft silt with moisture content in 35-40% range. Looking for computational technique or software to help quantify bearing capacity increase. Does anyone have a recommendation? We estimate capacity of native...

    Standard Penetration Number Sampler Correlation

I'm looking for a table that relates larger dia. samplers and heavier hammers, ie 300# to the standard number. Can anyone recommend a reference?

    Slope reading problem

Usually when slopes are designated "x in 12" it means x vertical by 12 horizontal, so 8V x 12H.

Friction factor, wood foundation base to gravel

I'm looking for a reference to determine an appropriate friction factor between a treated wood sill plate (square shape) and gravelly sand soil with no backfill restraint.

    Gabion bridge bulkhead

we are consdiering a gabion bulkhead (6'w x 21' L x 9'h) to support a rail car bridge. Rock may not be available. Will gabion strength be compromised if gravel (2" minus) is used with reiforcement grade geotextile basket lining? Max truck load is 100 tons. Most loads under 50 tons.

    Gabion bridge bulkhead

We are considering using a gabion basket bulkhead (9'h x 6'w x 21'l) to support a railcar bridge. Maximum truck load is 100 tons. Rock may not be available. Will gabion strength be compromised if they are lined with geotextile (reinforcement grade) then filled with gravel (1/4" to 2")?

Asphalt repair for timber bridge decks

We are considering using tack coat, non-woven geotextile, and a 2" asphalt concrete pavement overlay to extend the deck life of a 16' x 80' steel beam timber decked bridge. HAs such a project been done and evaluated?

Geogrid over ice, water and peat

We are designing a gravel work pad expansion over this profile 0-1' ice, 1' - 2' water, 2' - 9' saturated peat, then dense hardpan. It is a mottled wetland, so ice not continuous. Any advice on how to handle the ice? If we leave it, it makes a good suface to roll out the AMOCO 4551 nonwoven...
