Footings For A Plaza Sign - Part 9 Ontario Building Code or Part 4?

I guess Table 9.4.4.1. would be the go to if i can make it applicable to Part 9. Volume 2 explains an in situ test that you can perform to determine the type and condition of the soil, but who really does that? lol (i am open to doing that as it would back up my assumption i think) If i can get...

Footings For A Plaza Sign - Part 9 Ontario Building Code or Part 4?

Hi to those who come across this, Does a steel frame plaza sign require a geotechnical assessment if the footings are poured caissons such that it would fall under Part 4 of the OBC, or would this be applicable under Part 9? The sign is about 20 feet tall and 12 feet wide. From past...

    Coefficient of Friction

HI, I am looking to calculate the lateral loads applied from a pit of manure. Do I follow the normal procedure as if it was normal backfill where i can search for the coefficient of friction? Is there a coefficient for manure? Thank you!

Two Way Slab With Drop Panels ANALYSIS

Hello, another question for y'all. If my prelim shear check does not go well, as in Vf >> Vr, is it fine to reassess my effective depth until Vr>Vf? Or is there another way around it? I think my effective depth will have to be a ridiculous number. Reminder that this is a drop slab. Thank you!

Two Way Slab With Drop Panels ANALYSIS

How does one go about analyzing a two-way slab with drop panels if you want to check the load capacity? Preferably with hand calculations and without the aid of programs. Existing conditions are known. Thank you!
