Dear FEA way,
Thanks. I reviewed the plastic strain and if changed to 0.01 (original is 0.1 when stress at 480MPa), model did not abort under static general mode but still abort under static riks mode.
[FYI, since I does not have experiment result, I just get the plastic property from...
Hi all, me again
When my model only has elastic behavior, everything is fine. While I tried to input plastic behavior as below, the job is aborted due to errors. [SI unit:N, mm]
I first run the model in "Static, General" mode, after job abortion, I run the model in "Static, riks" mode.
The...
Thanks FEA way again.
I just wonder if I dont have to multiple flange width if I get the moment from free body cut? Becuase I found that moments from free body cut are the same for different section with same load and length.
Thanks again FEA way. However I tried the above setting and found the results kind of strange.
Stress concentrated at the side where UR1 is fixed.
Also, I tried set U1=U2=0 at two end(bottom flange and web), the result seems normal, but the moment magnitude still too large (6.122e+8 Nmm per...
Dear FEA way,
Thank you very much. I tried and top flange is about 591kNm (see below image)
I did the same for the bottom flange and whole section, and found the moments are different.
So we normally take the value at top flange free body cut as bending moment instead of whole section...
Dear FEA way,
Please find the attached cae file for your information.

These are how I generate free body cut:
Maybe there is another way to extract integrated section moment...
Hi all, I wanna verify the model and therefore I checked whether the bending moment is same as theoretical value and found that there is huge difference.
SI unit defined: force=N, length=mm
Beam length:5000mm, flange width=100mm
Input load=200kN/m [I modeled as 19608N point load at each mesh...
Hi all,
The below graphics show how I model the support, but I am not sure if it is correct or not.
I wonder if top flange and web have to be assigned pin support )U1=U2=U3=0) or not?
Thanks
Thanks. I did several trials, finally have the following stress diaphragm
But dont know why s22 stress pattern is like that. Not sure if it is correct or not.
I also have some question.
Q1: I found that if I pin only bottom flange vs both top and bottom flange, the S11 and S22 stress...
Thanks for your response. I tried your method. But there is still sudden increase in stress (but at other side this time) and the stress at two end are different.
Also I found that mesh in extrude view is strange (taper close to the centerline), i dont know if it is normal.
I just wonder there may be something wrong at the joint between flange and web. But the extrude view (see below image) is kind of normal to me.
I made a parition at the mid span so that I can create path and extract stress. I know it is kind of stupid but i dont know if there is proper way to...
Thanks for your prompt response.
1. When i built up this model, i alreay apply shell offest to create flange and web thickness (kind of like below image)
But i am no sure how to make sure the normals are consistent. Becacuse i kind of new in Abaqus.
2.Sorry for my bad math, i make stupid...
Hi all,I have tried to do simply supported one span I beam under uniform distributed load. Then extract s11 by defining path at bottom flange. However,
1.The stress in x-dir s11 is not symmetric along flange, there is sudden increase in stress at RHS of middle flange (i understand there would...
