Operating a H2 type Choke Valve (API 6A)

Hi All, For those invested in this, we were able to get a torque value which was around 150 lb. ft (near to what I was able to calculate). Which was not that much, however, we had to update the design to a bigger handwheel after that we were able to operate it somewhat easily. Regards, AAI

Operating a H2 type Choke Valve (API 6A)

Hi Little, True, feels like it, there might be an issue with the design. But the design is pretty straightforward H2-type choke see below for a typical design. Hi jbeck, NOT trying to shut off the valve, just we need to operate the stem using the handwheel, from the open to close position...

Operating a H2 type Choke Valve (API 6A)

Hi Members, I had designed a typical Choke Valve (H2 type), stem, and needle type, but facing a very unusual problem while testing. As per API 6A, we need to do validation testing by checking the valve during the operating cycle. See below process However, when we apply rated working...

Flow Coefficient calculation of Choke Valves

Second, you 3DDave. However, there was some reference I was able to pull out to give me a rough estimate of resistance "K" that would be similar to "needle and seat case" I am working on. Using the K calculated (for a specific Orifice size) from here to give me a Headloss/Pressure loss using...

Flow Coefficient calculation of Choke Valves

Trying this forum for the first time, really appreciate the quick response from you guys. I believe it is my poor choice of words that led to this confusion. This is not something that is being supplied, I am working on product development of "Needle and seat choke", the end-user has the...

Flow Coefficient calculation of Choke Valves

Thanks for the quick response, you are right. But there are ways to calculate friction "K Factor" using equivalent Lengths. Then use the head loss/darcy–Weisbach equation to get the pressure loss.

Flow Coefficient calculation of Choke Valves

Hi Members, I have just started working on control valves such as Choke Valves, the typical needle and stem type. Now I am looking for reading material or general calculations I can use to calculate Pressure loss and Cv Value theoretically for choke valves, which I can later verify through...
