    Two adjustments for one thread

This appears to be a hydraulic ram with an internal dampening adjusting rod for restricting the oil flow at the end of the stroke. Probably from a shock absorber. IMO.

The best way to protect a bolt from loosening?

Eigthben has ignored a request to show the actual production line or a drawing of the troubled area ! Fair enough ! It is very difficult to troubleshoot a problem when more information is needed ! In an impact area, bolts will have a tendency to loosen through bolt stretch , wear between the...

The best way to protect a bolt from loosening?

This thread is drawing more attention than it truly deserves ! Without a schematic of the production line, it is difficult to visualize how the log strikes the stop plate. Perhaps it's time to go back to the proverbial drawing board. What happens to the log after it strikes the plate ? Where...

The best way to protect a bolt from loosening?

Any weldment ,assembly if subjected to repetitive impacts, will loosen in time ! I have to agree with bdeuell. deceleration of the item (log) before impact, IMHO ,will lessen the chances of failure.

    Spark plug "indexing"?

evelrod, I don't think the plugs are to blame as much as the fuel and low ignition voltages of years past. These two items caused the bulk of plug deteriation and failure in my opinion.

    Spark plug "indexing"?

idano, patprimmer: Thanks for your responses. I use "surface gap" plugs in my racers so I'm not really concerned about this procedure. I was only curious.

    Spark plug "indexing"?

I overheard a couple guys talking about indexing the spark plugs on an engine they were building. I, not being familiar with the terminology, butted in , and asked for an explanation. They explained that with all the plugs being lined up in a multi-cylinder engine,ie: all the plug gaps being...

Conversion of petrol engine to CNG

I thought I was pretty negative in my response to your first question, but here is more: Availability of fuel on the road (or is this a stationary engine?) You cannot legally drive through a tunnel in the USA(or so I understand) with a compressed gas vessel. I could forsee problems if the...

    Bringing back the shine

I was afraid of that!. A plain panel wouldn't be too bad, but going in between each 'diamond' is going to be a pain in the A$$. Thanks for your reply. alloyboy

    Bringing back the shine

I am fabricating a few items using 1/8 alum. diamond plate. I used a plasma torch to cut the pieces out and welded them using the TIG process. My question is; how to get the luster back in the cut/weld area. I have seen pickup toolboxes made from this material, and the weld areas are as shiny as...
