Can a gas engine be used to startup a larger electric motor?

Thanks BJC... I was able to find that issue (March 2004)

    requirments in boiler water treatment

Those requirements are a function of your process requirements and system metallurgy... a steam turbine etc. has more stringent requirements than other process uses. Also your feedewater temp. will affect this. O2 is less soluable in water at higher temps. Typically a mechanical dearator is used...

Can a gas engine be used to startup a larger electric motor?

BJC... Would you know which issue that article would be in. It sounds like an interesting read. I've looked at the monthly summaries at Electrical Apparatus website, but there don't refer to the article in question. Thanks

Can a gas engine be used to startup a larger electric motor?

This is outside my area of knowledge... We have access to a large compressor and electric motor, which we want to use in an application. However, the motor is not "sized" for this particular application. The start time for motor coupled to the blower is greater than the manufacturers'...

    Cooling Water Treatment

Your best bet would be to contact a Water Treatment company in your area... Nalco, GE Betz, Rochester Midland... Your costs will vary depending on the application. ie. amount of blowdown, tower temperatures, demade for biocides etc...

Need sizing info for aircooled radiator

We have a reclaimed radiator type oil cooler. We want to use it for a different application, but I have limited design information on the unit. Can someone direct me to a good resource for basic heat transfer calculations on fintube, air-cooled radiators? Thanks

Looking for formula to calculate number of holes in a Tubesheet

Hello, I am looking for a formula to calculate the number of holes that can be drill on in a tubesheet, given the tubesheet diameter, tube size and tube hole pitch. I have come across this in the past, but just can't locate it in my reference texts. Thanks...

Having problems with a mass flow meter - Coriolis

jmw, We do have this Mass flow meter on a trial basis. The Rep thought this was a good application for for the Coriolis flow meter. Could you suggest a different type of Meter? Density measurement is an important parameter, that is why we chose to look at this unit.

Having problems with a mass flow meter - Coriolis

We have installed a Coriolis mass flow meter on a 2" process line. The Unit has been calibrated and is operational. Our problem is we have air bubbles entrained in the liquid. This is causing the density and hence the flowrate to be erratic. I am looking for ideas on how to minimize the...

What is the difference between an organic acid and an Inorganic acid?

I am looking for coatings resistant to acids and have found many for inorganic acids, but only a few for organic acids. This may be a basic question but what is the difference between organic and inorganic acids? Why is one more corrosive?

    Books for Chem Engineers

"Rule of Thumb for Chemical Engineers" by Carl Branan (Gulf Publishing)is a good reference. It's good for quick calculations, but you should still refer to more detailed references for critical work.

Looking for a Moisture analyzer in a "wet" process air steam

Joisy, When you say the reliability goes down, do you mean the sensing device gets contaminated or coated and therefore needs to be cleaned and and calibrated? Could you give me some information on the unit you you have? Thanks.

Looking for a Moisture analyzer in a "wet" process air steam

I have a process that takes Air from the athmoshpere and is compressed to 20 psig. Then steam is injected into the airsteam to "humidify" the stream before it enters the process. I am looking from a reliable moisture analyzer that can measure the moisture in the stream after the steam...
