cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

Iskit, Sumitomo is not the only maker, although they are, I will concede, few and far between. I have found Turkish makers, Chinese makers and a Korean maker but they have a fraction of the offering that Sumitomo has. There is also another Japanese maker by the name of Nippon Denso/ Shimpo...

cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

Iskit, Yes this is the one I am talking about. step1

cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

Spurs, seems we are almost real time here. I am in Japan and it is 12:31 noon. Ok , before we go any further , I want to avoid any confusion: this is what I am talking about :" Differential epicyclic gearing" and you can see an example of it here...

cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

Spurs, the reason is mostly weight savings. and this helps too: "many teeth are in contact at one time distributing the load so force-bearing gear teeth each have to bear less load. " quotes taken from internet site with information on products... step1

cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

Iskit4iam, no problem, I realize text based communication doesn`t always carry the right nuances. I saw your other posts on the threads and they looked quite helpful so , I certainly can`t hold this one against you. I have given the good ol` google a whirl but have not found any books on...

cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

Iskit4iam, ok, that is one piece of advice I won`t be using, unless you are talking about using peanut oil to run a hydraulic unit... I don`t have any calcs . I am not an engineer although with appropriate reference material I can at least evaluate designs to a proposal level. The engineer...

cyclo reducer with mc nylon components?

This message/question is related to following topic :<<Spur or planetary gear box in light winch>> although I thought it warranted a thread on its own... Again in the quest of building a light yet strong gearbox, I am requesting comments on the feasability of the following design: Cyclo speed...

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

MattRR Yes I would be interested to know more about this gearbox. Sounds like it is a close fit. Step1

Can steel shaft be replaced by oversized Al shaft?

To all who took time to respond. Sorry for the very belated reply. We are still making slow progress on the project as posted on the gear thread and have eliminated certain options in favor of others , mostly through failures... The AL shaft seemed to have been but a cruel joke in my mind...

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

Spurs, the worm gear solution was examined but friction is considered quite high and self locking is not an advantage in our case so it was dropped. It is not easy dealing with the input/output shaft angle either, so planetary is still favored, cyloid hoped for. regards step1

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

to all who contributed ideas and advice for this project. Unfortunately the design ( and resulting prototype ) has still not found a perfect and definite solution. Mostly because of lack of funds I suppose... The prototype and concept though has gotten a very good reception from the...

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

Matt your ideas were discussed at length two days ago and we have two possible design in mind at this point with a three stage spur gear design slightly ahead at this point in the process (cost but also engine attachment to the gear reducer housing, we need a certain size housing to mount the...

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

MattRR, thank you for the reply. Your suggestions for the design are all very interesting. Right now weight is the focus but no doubt additional advantages would come out of a more refined system, for example shock loading and wear of the gears. Offsetting of input/output is not a problem...

Can steel shaft be replaced by oversized Al shaft?

We are designing a small portable winch with a 2t (metric) pull capacity. Weight is the number one factor and must be decreased from 24 kg at present to under 20 kg. The engine weight and size cannot be changed as well as the wire length, size and weight and therefore all weight savings have...

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

plasgear, thank you for your reply. I am not an engineer so I had to reread your post a number of times with my reference books to finally get most of it ... I think. So, what you are saying is go with a spur gearbox (parallel shafts) , increase the module for each stage, and keep the input...

spur gear box or planetary gear box in light winch

Looks like I found the right place... We are designing a small winch to be used in forestry operations. I consult with end users and report incorporate their wishes into the new product design guidelines. The winch is meant to be portable , therefore light nevertheless we want a max 2.7...
