Many thanks for the information I have finally got it going the faults were a bad connection and short circuit 30uF run capacitor. I tried with the nearest size I had (40uF) and it ran well on top speed but a bit rough on low speed. I have ordered a new capacitor of the correct type...

I also have a EMCO Star combinnation woodworking machine to repair looks like its lost the starter winding. If you have fixed yours I'd be grateful for any info you may have gathered this looks like its happened before.
