Wet flow Vs dry flow results

thank you everyone for replying. Aboveredline is correct that I am not concerned about the carb/inj element as I am testing valve shrouding due to port flow shear at the short turn radius. As it happens the engine will most likely be injected and have individual port throttles. However I am...

Light Weight Material for Disk Brake Rotors

What is the MMC rotor life like compared to cast iron? I am curious why alcon et al have not produced an after market MMC rotor, everything I am hearing sounds positive for some motorsport e.g. hillclimb

Light Weight Material for Disk Brake Rotors

that is not much temp, have lotus solved this problem?

Light Weight Material for Disk Brake Rotors

What is the upper temp capability of MMC rotors as described?

Light Weight Material for Disk Brake Rotors

I agree, that is an outstanding price. I am tempted even though I don't really need them!

Light Weight Material for Disk Brake Rotors

Do you use a chute or is it all mechanical braking? and does the car need to be driven on the road at all? or road registerable? I'm assuming each run has a longish break before the next run and thus everything has time to cool down? My first though was why not try a 50% solution and see if you...

Light Weight Material for Disk Brake Rotors

MMC ala' lotus? I do not know how their supplier is. Alcon has released a ceramic disc for a mercedes, perhaps they have more on the way. What is the weight of the car and spped brakews need to operate from?

Wet flow Vs dry flow results

Phil, thanks for the reply, it is interesting. Unfortunately I am not tackling the problem you describe, though I have spoken to a couple of people who have and I hope that I never have to! I will be investigating new port shapes in an 8v 4cyl engine soon and will be mapping the valve shrouding...

Wet flow Vs dry flow results

I have been reading and asking questions of people again and so far the question has remained un answered (possibly poor questions!?), hence this post. The current range of flow benches are quite advanced (and expensive) but are you able to accurately predict the effect on the wet flow (ie the...

    Cambelt pioneers

Chumley thanks for the information. I had not considered the block issues. Smokey the cog belt seems to have been released on a number of cars in 1966, I will try to find any earlier. No doubt there were a range of companies working on the technology at the same time.

    Cambelt pioneers

A snippet of information passed onto me was that Glas of Switzerland pioneered the use of a toothed belt to drive OHC/DOHC....is this true? It would seem that the technology was put into production during the mid 60's by Fiat. Were there any advantages apart from the NVH?

    intake port short turn radius

Larry, thanks for that information, I shall keep it in mind. Do you feel that there is a potential avenue of modification unexplored?

    Supercharger and plenum volume

Azmio I wondered if the individual throttles would assist the design of the plenum in any way that may assist the maldistribution Marquis noted. I am aware of the added complexity/cost etc, however it has been done on forced induction production vehicles before e.g. Nissan SR20DET from GTiR...

    intake port short turn radius

Marquis thank you for the reply. You guessed correctly re the model/brand.I was considering modifying a series of ports and recording/comparing the results to a std port. This head was chosen as I have some knowledge of them, they are cheap and I would benefit from the results, and they have a...

    intake port short turn radius

It would seem that (given single In valve per cyl, round ports, carb fed, semi-hemi CC engine) that the short turn radius prior to the valve should be as generous as possible to avoid shrouding. However is the a recognised minimum radii in such as circumstance or are there too many variables (in...

    Supercharger and plenum volume

Thank you for the information. I (and I assume the others) look forward to hearing the results. What effect would individually throttled cyls/port have if any to the plenum design and would this in any way assist?

    Freeware 2d/3d airfoil calculator

I am interested in finding a 2D/3D airfoil calculator where I can alter sections (and not just NACA ones), section thickness, chord and angle of attack. Calculating lift, drag etc. Is anyone aware of such a thing?

    Supercharger and plenum volume

Marquis could you please let us know if you find anything...within the realms of confidentiality of course. 92strokedbird perhaps a full rundown of the engine may help as I can only assume that other traditional tuning enhancements (e.g. reshaped in valves etc) have been completed as well. The...

    Port epoxy life

Thanks for that Pat, my only other query is the fuel resistance, given that if I go this way it will receive fairly constant exposure to PULP.

    Port epoxy life

Pat have you found similar durability when placed in contact with alum?
