    Cosmos Express

No, I've checked all of the properties that I can find, and it is the same material and all of the properties are the same. I'm using AISI 304 Stainless Steel for a material, and it is the one that came with Solidworks in both versions. I even generated an html report from both, and everything...

    Cosmos Express

Has anyone noticed any problems with cosmos express afer installing SW 2006? Mine does not seem to work right. I've done the same test on several parts in 2005 and 2006 and they are never even close to having the same results. One version normally gives a factor of safety of about twice the...

    Weldment Profile Problems

I got it working, it had something to do with the file name square tube I guess. I could move my files to the rectangular tube folder and they would work. I just renamed the square tube folder to sq. tube and then the files showed up in that one also. Not sure why, but at least its working now.

    Weldment Profile Problems

I am haveing a lot of problems with getting my weldment profiles to work when adding a structural member. I have created a folder system like this: Weldment Profiles/ANSI/Square Tube. Under Square Tube, I have two different parts that I saved as libray features. One is called 3 x 3 x 11...

How to sketch on a sheet metal cylinder

The problem with wrap, split line, and a 3d sketch is that when you flatten the part, the sketch on the cylindrical face is no longer is the same place. It doesn't move with the face as it is being flattened. Jeremy

How to sketch on a sheet metal cylinder

Yeah, thats what I was looking for. It looks like the wrap command is what I need. I knew I had seen a way to put a sketch on a cylindrical surface, but I've never used it and forgot what it was called. I may be able to do it with a split line also, but I'm not sure how. I have already done...

How to sketch on a sheet metal cylinder

Thanks Denny, that should work. I didn't think about doing it that way. I'll just make some cuts through it using references from the assembly and then flatten it out and make my sketches from that. Once I get that done I can delete my cuts and just have the sketches in the flat pattern. I...

How to sketch on a sheet metal cylinder

Thanks for the reply Scott. I may not have been very clear in my description though. What I actually need is to make a sketch on the outer surface of the sheet metal part. I already have the sheet metal part created and need to weld a tab to the outer surface of it. I just want to make a...

How to sketch on a sheet metal cylinder

Is there any way to sketch on a sheet metal cylinder while it is rolled, and then flatten the peice out and still have the sketch on it. I was thinking that there was a surface sketch or something that might work, but I haven't found it. We laser cut our parts, and if I have a sketch on it...

    harley motor drawing

Hi, does anyone know where I can find a Solidworks or ACAD drawing of a harley evo or similar motor? We are trying to design exhaust systems for them, and a motor drawing would help a lot. Thanks, Jeremy

    harley motor

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a solid works model of a harley davidson or other big twin motor. We are trying to design exhaust pipes for it and it would make it a lot easier if I had a solid works model. An ACAD drawing would help some also. Thanks, Jeremy

    Faster PLC

The process I was trying to control was the pressure of an accumulator tank we were using to pump product. The problem is that I need to control this within about .1 psi to get a very consistent flow. I was using a pressure transducer going into a 4-20 mA input to read the pressure, and then...

    Faster PLC

Hello, I am looking for a faster PLC. I have mainly used PLC's from Automation Direct and have had a couple applications where they did not have the speed required to react quick enough. On a recent application, I wrote a fairly simple program, looked at the scan time while it was running...

Thanks everyone for all of the help, I think I can make something work with that. Jeremy Estes

    sheet metal modeling

I am trying to model a sheet metal part in solidworks 2003 by lofting 2 sketches. My problem is that I cannot keep the thickness constant throughout to be able to add a sheet metal feature later. I'll describe a simplified version of the problem area of the part. If looking at the part from...
