This is purely a theoretical topic right now... Trying to find a metal or combination of metals of piping that allow for a certain amount of thermal expansion, while still maintaining their visible structure. Or really, more along the lines of thermal "compression" so to speak, even...

I agree that the dissipation would increase unless your heat sink is undersized, can your heat exchanger be better designed to better utilize the air flow to it from above?
