    Hi Jason, Since you don't use free forms, I would use the "Soft Blend" feature. You already know the tangency distance from edge to be blended.     A simple toggle would be nice, however I regularly use the "Broken View" function to provide a break line where needed. This function is simple to use and provides you several different styles to choose from and allows you to create a custom break line if you wish.
