    ess of smt

Thanks! Sorry for the late response. I'm realizing that there are many variables and each situation is unique; manufacturer information is probably the most appropriate. I was also referred to MIL-STD-2164 to aid in setting up an ess plan. Again, thanks. - TR

    ess of smt

Being a mech eng primarily, I am diving into an area that I know only a little about, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some good references that would allow me to learn more about environmental stress screening of surface mount technology/devices. I am...

    high compressor discharge

I confess that I am not an expert in HVAC, more of a general ME, so I'd like your help. Can anyone give me a list of possible causes for higher than expected compressor discharge pressures on a refrigeration system? Causes that come to my mind are: 1. Refrigeration overcharge 2. Too much oil...

    ME needs EE help

    ME needs EE help

Being an ME, I need some EE help. Can I reliably run one of those new tankless water heaters (essentially a big resistor), which draws 30A at 240Vac, from a 240Vac, 30A, 3 phase supply? Or will I be constantly tripping power? Thanks, Tim

    repeat heat treat

Thank you both for the good information. I suspected that it wouldn't be a problem to repeat heat treatment, primarily because the methods seem to be so established and there never is a discussion on starting material. Also, thanks for the good link on hardness to tensile. Have a great day, Tim

    repeat heat treat

Hello, Is there a degrading effect (maybe beneficial?) from repeated cycles of heat treating? For example, I have a friend that is trying to achieve a specified hardness in 4130 steel and the first attempt didn't quite get to the level he wanted. Is there any problem with trying again? Also...

    Motion at cryogenic (2.8) K

You can find a lot of good info at this site: www.lerc.nasa.gov/WWW/spacemech It sounds challenging. Best of luck. Tim
