Does anyone have any information reference induction hardening and what you can do to ioncrease final hardness?
(ie quench at sub zero effects of this etc...)
Is it possible to induction harden 420 stainless steel to 50-60 HRC at 1.5 to 2mm deep.
My supplier is advising that he has 420 but can only obtain 46-48 HRC
I wish to have a bracket made, the steel on the dwg is A588 but my vendor is asking to use Steel A572 Gr.C Type 2 instead.
The part to be made is a 1/4 thick right angle bracket with a couple of mounting flanges welded to it with 1/2" dia holes.
Application t support motor in open salty...
I am looking for any web links that detail method for calculating indoor air exchange rates.
Any links to recommended limits for industrial plants are also appreciated.
Jamco,
Thanks for the response, unfortunately we cannot heat the block but we could cool the plug.
Question is truly with regards to what is the optimal chamfer and the minimum interference fit for this pressing operation, where parts cannot be heated.
We press an anodized Aluminum 1.314" dia x .44" Long plug with a 15 degree chamfer cut .06" deep into an anodized Aluminum block where the tolerance between parts causes an interference fit of .001" to .003".
Plug also has a sealant groove of .02 to .06 wide and .01 deep...
Does anyone know a conversion coating product (and supplier) that is a replacement for Alodine as used on Aluminum.
The coating application will be used to treat bare Aluminum as the result of rework to an anodized part.
Brush Alodine or similar type of applicators will not work, replacement...
