Recommend anchor bolts for 12% Soduum Hypochlorite tank

I would like to thank everyone who responded to my post. I have decided to purchase bolts coated with Fluorokote available through a Los Angeles disrtibutor.

Recommend anchor bolts for 12% Soduum Hypochlorite tank

metengr, Thanks for your reply. The tanks you describe sound similar to mine. I have several tanks, ea. 2,500-gal, supported on elevated steel (painted) supports. For now, I plan to use SS 316 anchor bolts (with nuts & washers) to connect the painted steel frame to the foundation. I know...

Recommend anchor bolts for 12% Soduum Hypochlorite tank

CoreyPad, Thanks for your reply. Duration is hard to say. The power plant may not fix leaks in the pumps or piping system in a timely manner. At this point in my design, I'd just like to digest all the comments I receive and make an educated best guess.

Recommend anchor bolts for 12% Soduum Hypochlorite tank

Hello Everyone, I need to select some type of anchor bolt to attach a polyethylene tank to a concrete foundation inside a secondary containment basin. The tank holds a 12% solution of Sodium Hypochlorite. I plan to paint the secondary containment basin with a Vinyl Ester coating to protect the...

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.

    Safety Grate Design

The grate spacing of 10" is what the plant wants for operation purposes. I will determine the actual spacing based on loading design and OSHA safety requirements. The gratings will be removable (for maintenance on hoppers) but the plant wants them in place when material is dumped. Material is...

    Safety Grate Design

I have been asked to design a safety grate for fall protection. The grates are over a hopper which holds biosolids (75% water & 25% biosolids). The biosolids have the consistency of mashed potatoes. The biosolids are 60-pcf and are dumped in 25-ton loads at a rate of 25-ton/minute. I know how...

Nut Supported vs Grout Supported Columns

Correction - the inflection point of the anchor bolt is half the clear distance. Therefore, the anchor bolt must be checked for axial stress (due to axial & overturning moment) and bending (due to shear & torsion x 1.5”).

Nut Supported vs Grout Supported Columns

I agree with structuresguy. I work of an electric utility and have designed many steel pole type structures supported by the anchor bolts without grout. Most of our structures are hot dip galvanized members with drain holes located in the bottom of the base plates. We omit grout under the...

    Weathering steel connection

Thanks for the reply David. The bolts I'm using here are stainless steel (not galvanized). The bolts are actually threaded studs welded to the weathering steel panels. Do you think the weathering steel should to be insulated from the galvanized steel columns?

    Weathering steel connection

I am designing a security fence made of 3/8” thick weathering steel panels (ASTM A588) attached in direct contact with hot dip galvanized (ASTM A123) columns (ASTM A36). The Architect does not want bolts to be visible from the front side of the panels so I was thinking of installing fully...
