Robert I was haveing the same problem with R10. I figured it was a problem with catia and not something I was doing. I contacted IBM about it and they told me To install the latest service pack (at the time it was SP8). When I installed The SP the problem stoped. Hope this works for you.

Hi Catia files that were created in R11 are not compatible with R9. You can try to make them compatible by runing the downward compatibility batch file located in tools / utility. If that doesn't work first try to run a clean (CATDUAV5 batch) on the files. Hope this helps
