    BSP or BSPT

Thanks, I guess if I only tap the gallery 15mm deep and wind the socket set screw in, until it gets tight where the thread has stopped and put a bit of hydraulic seal or loctite in it it's got to be ok? Does anyone else know about that bspt bsp combo?

    BSP or BSPT

Hi, I want to tap an oil gallery and insert a threaded bung in it rather than a push fit bung. Just wondered what peoples opinions are, should I just tap 1/4 bsp and screw in a 1/4 bsp blanking plug until it goes tight, or should I tap 1/4 bspt and put a taper bung in..? Does it make any...

    Broken Colchester Lathe!

Hi All, I'm teaching at a school in the UK, we have an old colchester (not sure of model but can get it if required - it doesn't have the colour coded levers for speed and is a small to medium size). The lathe has been noisy for a while (bearing noise I think)and now it has given up...

    Low SG manometer fluid

Thanks Tony / Warpspeed, I posted this stuff where you said and I also ordered the book you recommended (thanks for the help and advice). I agree with what you say about the turbulent air affecting the flow etc. etc. but what I don't quite get is why the formula doesn't seem to work for this...

    Low SG manometer fluid

Thanks Warpspeed, I have some issues with this however. Looking at the MSD flow bench http://www.ag.auburn.edu/users/gparmer/articles/flowbench2/ This uses an 1 3/4" orifice to flow 180 CFM at 28", using your calculation this orifice should flow 220 CFM. Do you know how the...

    Low SG manometer fluid

Hi guys, I'm at the start of building my own flow bench and I found some great instructions from popular hot rodding http://www.ag.auburn.edu/users/gparmer/articles/flowbench2/ There is just a couple of points I hoped someone could clarify: Basically I want to understand the maths, from what...
