    Injecting fluid into gas stream

We have an application for an injection quill. The client wants to inject an inhibitor into a gas stream. The fluid would be at approx 150 PSI and the gas normally at approx 150 PSI, however it could go as high as 1,440 PSI max. Question is will the fluid overcome the pressure differential...

    Possible galling between 18.8 S/S and 303 S/S

We are looking at a new design of one of our products. We normally use 18.8 S/S bolt on the handle. It is treaded into a valve top which now has a 303 S/S insert. When there is a load placed on the valve and the handle is tightened to set the pressure, you can 'feel' a binding. When the...

    fluid flow with chemical injection

The quill has a 1/8" diam orifice, at 50 PSI it should deliver 1.5 USGPM. Using tables I got the velicity as 8.48 ft/sec. The pipe line flow for a 6" pipe was from the same table. The actual number for the pipe flow is a variable depending on the process. The quill is inserted...

    fluid flow with chemical injection

I agree that those factors are important however we sell to a variety of end users and the chemicals etc will vary accordingly. I realize that the turbulent flow will eventually mix the chemical, given sufficient length but length is also a variable. Also, if the process pipe flow was high...

    fluid flow with chemical injection

I haven't used my fluid dynamics in over 20 years and I can't remember how to do the calculations. What I want is probably quite easy for those of you that work with this daily. If I have a 6" pipe with a flow of 400 USGPM (should have a velocity of 4.44 ft.sec)and I insert an injection...

Design Criteria for Plastic Socket Weld Valves

We do not currently have any ASTM books. This one of our problems. If you could tell me which ASTM gives the dimensions for the socket weld depth, we could then get a copy of that ASTM. Thanks

Design Criteria for Plastic Socket Weld Valves

We manufacture thermoplastic back pressure valves. We are making some design changes and need to confirm the depth requirements for the socket. Is there a specification or a standard to define the depth for a socket weld? Thanks for your help.

BSPT threads interchangeable with NPTF threads

If the parts are plastic, PVC, CPVC etc then the material is soft enough that you do not need to retap the threads. This is only good for up to 1/2", It may work for 3/4" but definitely not larger sizes. If Part is metal you will need to retap the threads.
