    pump corrosion protection

yeah. stainless steel shaft and impeller. Acid will be acetic, but the concentration is tbd. We want to consider the corrosive effects of the acid in determining the strength.

    pump corrosion protection

we will be acid-washing some pumps soon. what sorts of products help prevent the acid from tearing aparat the pumps? The acid will be in pretty low concentration.

    ASME 31.4 / 31.8 conversion

Thanks eeg for your input. I've read both documents and was able to pin down what you said and a few other points, if anybody out there ever needs this... My piping was designed for class 3, but exceeded those requirements because it was a metering skid. The thickness on the walls was much...

    Salinity from sodium ppm

I know that salinity is typically measured from chlorinity, but is it possible to use ppm of sodium? Also, does anyone know where I could find good charts for the variance of the solubility product constant of CaCO3 with salinity, temperature and pH? -thanks

    Ethylene Decomposition - Conditions

Where did you find those values? Do you know what kinds of systems can arrest the decomposition once it has begun? Our system trips on temperature sensors and depressurizes the system. I can't verify that the amount that we depressurize is sufficient. Any thoughts?

    Ethylene Decomposition

I was wondering if anyone could point to some literature about the conditions where ethylene decomposition will occur and how to stop the decomposition. I know generally the ranges of pressures / temperatures required but I am designing a blowdown system to depressurize the ethylene system when...

    Ethylene Decomposition - Conditions

I know this is from a long time ago but thought it worthwhile to comment: Oxygen or not it will still decompose. It does not need another gas to decompose. (C2H4 = C + CH4 + 2000 btu/lbC2H4). Cirrus9 is right about the conditions (rust, water etc). The heat seriously weakens the pipe and...

    ASME 31.4 / 31.8 conversion

ASME 31.8 mentions conversions from lines previously covered by 31.4 into dual-use or gas service lines. Furthermore OPS regulations also discuss conversions from liquid to gas service. I can't really find any discussion on the opposite conversion (from lines covered by 31.8 to a 31.4 line)...
