    A356 alloy and T6 temper

Dear friends, Why for A356 cast alloy, to T8 temper treating, after solution treatment and before artificial aging, it is hold for 24 hours in room temp. to be aged naturally? I found it is for stabilizing the material, but I need to know what "stabilizing" means? Thanks all in adv.

    Riser Proper Place

I have heard the risers should be placed on the sprue side of the mold cavity. Is this matter related to appropriate temperature gradient creation? Thanks to all.

different opinions regarding 2014 aluminum alloy

dear swall, i think 18 min. is not industrially practical and 149 C/10 HR IS BETTER.

different opinions regarding 2014 aluminum alloy

I think this holding time would be too short and it will not practically lead to enough hardening!

different opinions regarding 2014 aluminum alloy

According to fig.11.25 of Metals Handbook,vol2 9th ed., 18 minutes in 204 C can lead to Min. Y.P. and Min. Ductility equal to 345 MPa and 13%,respectively. I don't believe that and I think this results may be affected by many other parameters. What's your opinions?
